We interview experts including veterinarians, certified trainers, behaviorists, and nutritionists to bring you the most trusted advice. Our health articles are reviewed by a licensed veterinarian (who have either a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or VMD (Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris) degree) or subject matter expert for accuracy.

We believe in transparency

Our professional writers and medical reviewers are identified on all relevant content, with links to their biographies and qualifications. Any content created using AI tools is identified with a disclaimer, and these articles are always reviewed by humans before publication. Any sponsored content is clearly indicated with a disclaimer noting which brand has paid for the sponsorship.

We rely on evidence-based guidelines

Where appropriate, our articles, videos, illustrations, and infographics cite gold-standard references such as peer-reviewed journals, medical textbooks, and leading trade and professional organizations.

We follow professional guidance on sensitive topics

When it comes to controversial topics, such as shock collars and tail docking, Chewy Education relies on guidance provided by the American Veterinary Medical Association as well as the veterinarian experts of the Chewy Veterinary Advisory Panel to shape our positions. Products are selected at the discretion of the editors or subject matter experts. Recommended products typically have at least a 4-star rating, which indicates a high level of customer satisfaction.

Articles are reviewed to ensure factual accuracy, with the latest review date visible on each article.

All articles are rigorously edited and fact-checked by our editorial team, with at least two editors evaluating each piece of content. Relevant articles then undergo a medical review by a veterinarian to confirm accuracy.
