How does the self-locking zippers work for added security ?

Some clever dogs and cats can learn how to open regular zipper doors on soft pet carriers. The self-locking zippers are designed to prevent this. To open or close the door, simply lift the zipper pull and slide it as usual. Once the door is in the desired position, lay the zipper pull flat against the zipper. When the pull is flat, the zipper automatically locks in place and cannot be opened by your pet, adding an extra level of security during travel.

I bought the 18-inch for my cat who is 11.2 lbs. There's enough room for him to be comfortable without touching the top or sides. The description says the carrier will hold up to 18 lbs., but I'm doubtful about that capacity. If my cat weighed more than 13, I would have returned it for the larger carrier.

My five pound cat actively worked to destroy this bag on our last flight and was unsuccessful at biting or clawing her way through. The access from both sides and the top made handling her very easy. It’s not super flexible once zipped (almost no give on the edges) so be sure the dimensions work with the size requirements of your airline if needing to tuck under a seat.

Despite having airline compliant-dimensions, the carrier gave me a lot of trouble in the plane. The first struggle was putting the carrier on the floor, because the carrier was too wide to slip through between the two rows of seats. After I barely squeezed in the carrier to the floor, I was then only able to fit a small part of the carrier under the seat in front of me, because it was too high and not as flexible as I had expected. I barely had any legroom and I was nervous that the flight attendant would tell me I could not travel with my carrier / cat. For reference, I flew with this carrier three times, first on an Airbus and then on two Boeing planes (one newer model than the other) with two different airlines. I encountered much more trouble on Boeing than on Airbus. I would recommend EliteField's cheaper and smaller carrier instead.

This bag is amazing & I love all of the pockets on this bag. It’s unfortunate that I have to return the bag because my dog is a little too tall to fit. I couldn’t even try to make this bag work. I have a Mini Goldendoodle and finding a travel bag hasn’t been easy. The airline guidelines and restrictions make traveling with your pup extremely difficult and it’s truly infuriating! I decided on the “Katziela Luxury Rider Pro“. If anyone is looking for a bag to fit a taller dog, this might be it! I’m hoping this works out for us.

This is my second EliteField carrier and I'm definitely a customer for life now. The carrier is sturdy, but comfortable and lightweight. My cat just had a medical treatment and needs to be confined to rest for a few weeks and I feel completely comfortable leaving her in this to rest. She climbs right back in happily after her medicine! It doesn't even collapse when she climbs on it either! It's not too big, but has plenty of room. Absolutely perfect!

I love everything about this crate with the exception of two things. The first is that it tapers up at the top, which is really and takes up space that the dog could have to make it a bit roomier. The second is that there’s absolutely no flexibility at all to pushit down a bit to get under an airline seat if that was necessary. So you have to be really sure that the seat is going to be able to fit that height which is usually 11 inches and that’s exactly the height of this Carrier. Otherwise I love all the different openings. I love all the pockets. I love the way it rolls back on the top and having double zippers everywhere is great and having mesh on the top is great. Even the color is really beautiful.
