Do the blade tips open fully or do you have to slip it over the nail due to closed tip?

Answer by ChewySep 23, 2021
The blades on the Professional Dog Nail Trimmer open fully. If you prefer a nail trimmer that slips over the nail, we recommend a guillotine style instead.

Fell apart after two uses

The clippers fell apart after just two nail trims. The blades were sharp, but the bolt fell out, so I couldn’t even screw it back in to have it hold together.

Do the job

They don't seem to last as long as ones made years ago. The bolt/nut gets loose and wobbly and doesn't like to tighten. They are used in a kennel so lots of use

Evolution Professional Dog Nail Trimmer

These nail trimers are the best ones I have used for medium/large Pit bulls. They are not excessively loud, and cut well.

One said it crushes and splinters the nail. Not cutting the nail at the right angle will do that. To loud when nails are trimmed to me sounded a bit odd. My wife and I have owned numerous types of dogs and have tried a variety of trimmers. We both have agreed these are the best trimmers we have ever used. They are totally sharp enough to go through the toughest nails and leave them with a clean clear cut. If you find them to loud for your dog and it scares them try singing to them to distract them while you are trimming their nails. We both would and do recommend these trimmers to other folks that have asked what we use.

Dull. Cracks/crushes instead of cutting.

These clippers are terrible. I'm used to the red-handled Millers Forge clippers, which I'm not crazy about EXCEPT they are sharp and go through my three dogs' nails

These clippers are terrible. I'm used to the red-handled Millers Forge clippers, which I'm not crazy about EXCEPT they are sharp and go through my three dogs' nails like a hot knife through butter. These Evolution trimmers are more comfortable to hold and the guard stays in place -- however, the blades are extremely dull. I need to use a LOT of force to clip one nail. And I need to apply all of that pressure in an instant, which means getting the clippers into position on the nail and then squeezing as HARD as I can. This sort of sudden/extreme force is not safe for my dogs. If their paw twitches at all, if my hand slips at all, if I don't exert enough force, then the clippers don't cut the nail, but rather crush/crack it. I did one paw's nails on my 35 lb English Staffordshire Bull Terrier and both he and I had had enough. On one nail, when it didn't cut all the way, it sent a crack halfway up the nail. Stay away from these.

Not sharp nail clippers

These do not work. I’ve had them since July and thought maybe I was just not using them correctly but they just came unsharpened and not easy to use
