Even though this medicine is liquid and has a chicken flavor, it is still too thick, very hard for the cat to swallow, and uncomfortable in the mouth, causing severe salivation, shaking the head, and attempts to spit. - which it does every time- It is supposed to be used every 12 hours for 3 weeks. It is almost impossible to do it. It is torture to the cat, even though I tried to put the medicine very far back, close to the throat. I hope they can improve this medicine to make this process easier and less stressful for the cat and its owners.

I loved that I could get the medication in an oral suspension rather than a huge tablet for our 4 month old kitten. My mistake, picking marshmallow flavor. Next time I'll go with chicken. The bottles had a stopper in the top which made getting it into the syringes super easy and no spills. The 24/7 pharmacist was super helpful and friendly. The meds arrived soon after ordering. Great service from Chewy, as always!

First dose of this I gave my cat he went crazy. He ran around the house foaming at the mouth shaking his head all around and trailing a long string of drool. Then he finally gagged enough to throw up, what a waste. I’ve never seen him react like this to anything. Now he’s avoiding me like the plague and I’m struggling to get his other medication in him. I thought liquid would be better/easier since the pills are huge, I think I thought wrong. This must taste horrible. Also the oil base of this builds up in the string even after cleaning, makes the plunger stick.

I stopped giving after 3 days. Everytime I’d give a dose my cat would gag and drool like I’ve never seen him do before. He would look nauseas for 20 minutes and I’d feel horrible. I stopped giving it to him on day 3 and he got better on his own before the week was up. He has taken medicine before and never reacted so I assume this one was pretty bad. I can’t comment on the effectiveness of the medicine but I know the flavoring/ taste of it was no good.

If you’re buying this bc you’re hoping it’ll taste better than the pill, don’t. It smells like chicken, but it tastes worse than the pill even when broken into a powder. I’m having a heck of a time getting famciclovir into my cat since the pill is huge and the powder is super bitter, so I was hoping this would be a good option. Idk if I’m weird but I taste everything I give my cat (besides her food) and I literally recoiled. It’s so much worse than the powder, which is saying a lot. I tried to squirt directly into her mouth after failing with food and toppers; she immediately threw it up.

Works Well for Breathing, Still Struggling with Mucus and Sneezing

My cat has very bad breathing issues, and I have to say this medication has really helped him. It’s supposed to be given twice a day, but mornings are too difficult for me to manage giving it to him, so I only give it at night for now. I’m not sure if he’ll need to stay on it forever, but for now it’s made a noticeable difference. I finally figured out the best way to give it to him, place him on a chair, gently hold the back of his neck, and that makes giving the liquid so much easier. The marshmallow flavor has been the best so far. Last time I tried the chicken flavor and he smelled like it all the time, definitely not my favorite. While this medication has helped his breathing a lot, he still sneezes and the mucus is really thick, and I’m not sure what to do about that part yet.

This medication actually helps quiet the virus enough so that the secondary bacterial infections went away our baby boy now is active like a kitten again. I just wish a vet would have suggested this sooner so he could've had his earlier years to be comfortable and we'll. I highly recommend this medication it was worth it.

Jasper HAD an upper respiratory infection

His health began improving the first few days he received his 3x daily doses. He was not happy about it, but he seemed to understand it was helping him.
