This definitely made a difference with our poor neurotic tabby, but he started to hugely prefer the room(s) with a diffuser. He took to hiding under the bed at bedtime, then coming out to try and cuddle in the wee hours. With him weighing 15 pounds, there's no way could I sleep through that! We finally tried fluoxetine/Prozac through our vet, and the results have been remarkable. Including the pill pockets, one with meds for him and an empty one for his brother, we're saving $17 a month regarding to two refills a month. More importantly, we're getting a much better response; he's still my neurotic stripey floof, but he's just a bit skittish, not fleeing because someone stepped near him or hiding in the basement for hours when we have visitors. TL;DR: very much worth a try, and if it doesn't help enough then consider talking with your vet about kitty Prozac.
