how many servings for a 1000 lbs horse? approximately how long does it last an average horse.

Answer by ChewyMay 31, 2022
There are 5 different tub sizes. Per the label instructions, 1/2 to 1 ounce daily for a 1000 pound horse: 1 lb 32/16 days, 2 pounds, 64/32 days, 4 pounds, 128/64 days, 10 pounds, 320/160 days and 30 pounds, 96/48 days for 10 horses. MSM is a bioavailable source of sulphur so it helps with many functions in the mammalian system but joint support is the primary reason people choose MSM as a supplement. In higher doses MSM acts as an anti-inflammatory ingredient, sometimes people are looking to reduce inflammation and discomfort. We recommend the higher dose for this application. It is difficult to overfeed MSM, the toxicity level is approximately equal to water.

Is this MSM synthetically produced? Or is this MSM organic sulfur and its crystal, lignin (wood pulp-based) form?

Answer by ChewyMay 09, 2021
The MSM in this supplement is an ultra pure 99.9% source of bio-available sulfur. It contains no fillers, no artificial colors, and no flavors.

What is the mg of msm in this product?

Answer by ChewyMar 14, 2022
This supplement contains 28.375 milligrams in an ounce and the scoop included in our MSM is a half ounce. That means 14,1875 milligrams of MSM product. This supplement is 99.9% pure so there are 14,173 milligrams of pure, elemental MSM per scoop.

There seems to be a lot of variance in how much MSM is in the product. What size is your scoop, and what is the amount of MSM in that scoop.

Answer by ChewyMar 16, 2021
This scoop measures 0.5 ounces and contains 28.35 grams per scoop.

Glad you carry the 30 pound size.

I have a herd of horses, and this is a foundation joint supplement in lots of other preparations.

I give this to my pony everyday for stiffness. It really makes a difference. He also has summer respiratory problems , and I read this could help with inflammation, as well. Definitely works for stiff joints, jury is out on respiratory but it doesn’t hurt to try. Chewy’s price is comparable to other sites, less if they’re having a good sale.

This product was a huge waste of money. It is so bitter. I can’t subject horse to this. I put a smidge on my finger (I sample before giving to my horse) and it’s dreadful. I put it on her feed twice. No. Just no. She gets all foamy and frothy just to eat it.

MSM

I don't give it a five because it is a little chunky and should be all powder. I can't say exactly how it works because it's a subtle product and I may never know

We started giving MSM to several horses in the barn - 2g at a time, varying between twice and 5 times per day. Most ( though not all) were clearly moving more comfortably after a few days suggesting that it might be helping them. (We haven’t confirmed this by stopping using MSM. And likely won’t.)
