Good for outside habitat under cover

By Nitromom on Dec 29, 2020

I have been using these for heat emitters for my iguana in his outside habitat that has a roof on it for the last 21 years and they do well enough that I keep repurchasing every 5 years or so. I run them pretty much constantly so after several years the ceramic socket will deteriorate. I use 75-250W emitters. The clamps are a bit tricky to get used to but once you figure them out they work well. I hang mine and don't mess with them too much until the end of winter here in FL- he uses them from Oct through March.

    Clam Lamp Flunk

By FlukerFlunk on Dec 14, 2020

Clamp itself too small to offset weight of ceramic bulb. Fell off and broke first day. Also fixture became burning hot despite ceramic base

    good lamp for price

By Liss on May 14, 2020

I bought this after I got a ball python from a friend- and they had a large lamp that ended up melting the aquarium plastic. Can’t have that! So I bought this smaller one and it’s pretty good quality; built nicely. Only down side (for me anyways) is it has the switch on the wire, not the lamp itself. But that’s just personal preference. So I’m very happy with my purchase.

    Seems sturdy

    By Ella on Feb 22, 2020 top250Contributor

We clamped one of these to a piece of wood nailed above our turtle’s tank, the clamp is placed vertically and it doesn’t slide down or move at all. Works very well.

    The Clamp is a LIE

    By bluephoenix73 on Jun 21, 2019

I'm using this lamp with a ceramic heat emitter, and the clamp cannot hold the weight of the lamp and the CHE, so it ended up sitting on top of the bars of the cage. If one were to use it with a less weighty bulb, that might be a different story, but as is, the clamp is pretty much useless to me. It was difficult to assemble, as well, and the video link provided was little help. The lamp itself is fine so far, though I have been hearing some subtle popping sounds coming from it lately (after just a couple weeks): I'm keeping the box just in case.
