So far I've had really great results with this media for my Fluval AC30 aquarium filter! I'm currently working on tearing down an old tank and with the help of this media it's definitely cleared up some of the strange odors as well as the water! Even though most carbon filters need a rinse, my only complaint is that it has a very strong chemical smell after opening to the point that I didn't want to place it in the tank, so I ended up soaking it in a bucket of clean tank water for about 24 hours. That seemed to do the trick, so keep that in mind if you want to use this right away!

After I rinsed this out (there was quite a bit of charcoal dust) and placed it in my filter I noticed within weeks how well it does its job. Algae growth went down, my water was a lot clearer, and my fish were more active. I normally don’t test my water unless I see issues as I have live plants and driftwood that helps to keep things stable.

Carbon filter that isn’t messy

I usually hate carbon filters. You rinse them and gunk comes out and gets all over. Don’t rinse them enough and your tank gets clouded up and gross. Not here. This

I usually hate carbon filters. You rinse them and gunk comes out and gets all over. Don’t rinse them enough and your tank gets clouded up and gross. Not here. This is one of the nicer carbon filters I have used. No mess. Clears water right up, even with the filter running on low. I can’t recommend this filter and the system it belongs too enough.
