Fits great but needs to be soaked first!

So far I've had really great results with this media for my Fluval AC30 aquarium filter! I'm currently working on tearing down an old tank and this has been helpful

So far I've had really great results with this media for my Fluval AC30 aquarium filter! I'm currently working on tearing down an old tank and this has been helpful in straining out the bigger stuff without effecting the water flow. My only complaint is that it has a VERY strong chemical smell after opening to the point that I didn't want to place it in the tank after rinsing it, so I ended up soaking it in a bucket of clean tank water for about 24 hours. That seemed to do the trick, so keep that in mind if you want to use this right away!

It slips easily over the intake tube, creating an extra layer of protection that keeps debris out of the filter while safeguarding small fish, shrimp, and fry from being accidentally pulled in. The sponge is durable, fits snugly, and doesn’t restrict water flow, which means my filter still runs smoothly while my tank stays cleaner. I love that it adds both mechanical and biological filtration—trapping particles and providing extra surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow. Maintenance is easy too: just rinse it out during water changes and it’s good to go again.

I never thought a filter sponge on an intake tube could be such a useful thing. You should see how much algae and debris get caught in this thing. This first line of defense really keeps the filter from having to work too hard. I rinse the sponge every two weeks to keep it clean before I do a change out. That seems to help the entire filtration system.
