Couple things I wish I'd realized before I bought. first thing, the dimensions are a couple inches wider which makes it very hard to find a quality crate cover (most are 23 this is 25 inches). We have a standard crate and I don't think the heavy duty is any heavier than the standard and it's really hard to open. I hate the way it opens. The pan is slightly too short so it moves back and leaves a gap in the front or back. It does it's job, but it's annoying. I am considering donating it and getting a standard crate.
We bought the heavy duty kennel because we didn't know if our puppy was going to fine tune her skills at breaking out of smaller kennels or not. I think she was telling us she wanted a bigger kennel. This is very sturdy and heavy duty. Putting it together was fairly easy with a minor step we still haven't figured out! Maybe it will make sense when we take it down to move it to another room!
I bought this cage for my mali and it's absolutely perfect. She can stretch fully and still has a lot of space to grow. Plus you can't beat the price!! In store it goes for $200+
The crate is for our 2nd baby Lab. She likes it alot because she outgrew her old one. Easy to assemble and the quality looks great.
I do not love it, nor do I think it was an upgrade when I chose heavy duty, as it seems the same as the regular one from Frisco brand. Mine also came with a slight bend in one bar. Perhaps the one I got is faulty, the only reason I upgraded was my old one was getting rusty.
Got this for our growing puppy but am a little disappointed in the quality. The latches are very wobbly and the ones on the end door don't line up exactly and you have to push the door down to get them to lock. For a heavy duty crate I expected better quality.
First, I'm shocked this is considered "heavy duty." I bought three other crates from a large chain store, and they are significantly more rigid / heavy duty than this crate is. But my biggest complaint is that the latches are awful. Confusing and counterintuitive, and it is easy to think that they are latched shut when they aren't. They're so awkward that the crate comes with an illustration of how to use them attached to the door. Definitely not recommended.
I expected a light weight crate that I would have to worry about the dogs bending the rungs, but they are not going to be able to destroy this one.
I have a new Golden Retriever puppy that outgrew his original crate! I wanted one with a divider so that it can grow with him! The divider works perfectly and the divider adjustment is done so easily!
I have purchased quite a few of these crates & none have been easy to set up. The doors are collapsed into the crates & the hooks catch on the sides so that you can’t pull them up where they are suppose to be. Infuriating! Once you do battle with them & finally get them assembled they are quite sturdy & nice. I had to use a screwdriver to bend the hooks to get them detached from the sides all while the sides are collapsing on me. Not easy at all!!!! They are easy to clean with the removable tray which is nice. So, bottle line, they are nice crates but easy set up they are not!
