Works great for me
I run a rescue for FIV cats and have multiple litter boxes plus a 10x10 area outside filled with cedar mulch in an enclosed area for the kitties that don’t want to come inside. There are two large litter boxes on the covered porch outside and I use the grass litter out there for days when it’s rainy or whatnot so the outside cats have a dry place to go to the bathroom. Anything that get spilled out of the box, I just sweep it off into the cedar covered area (which I would absolutely NOT do with clay litter) I don’t use it inside because it is quite dusty, and does track easier than clay litter, but it serves the purpose I get it for very nicely and seems to control odors in the box well also (but I also scoop everything 3 times daily)
Another subpar litter
I had high hopes for this litter. Such high expectations I got four bags on my first purchase only to be let down again. This litter is dusty and tracks. It tracks several rooms away. I have black porcelain floors so I can see every piece of litter. With heavier (i.e., clay) litter, the pieces fall off of paws pretty quickly. Not so with this lighter litter. It is so insidious I am finding it UNDER sofa cushions and area rugs. Well, how does it do with odor control, you ask? I have three cats and find this litter (unscented) to provide very little odor, especially for poop. I am scooping the boxes several times a day just to bare living with my cats right now. One of my cats will sometimes poop outside the box if I am gone too long during the day. Bottom line, I liked that it purported to be more natural but it just cannot deliver.
More Dust than a Construction Site
We have been using grass cat litter for several years. I think Chewy changed the process or something. Not sure but it is unusable due to the incredible amount of dust. It causes me to cough and takes my breath away. The mess is another thing entirely. We will go with a different brand of grass cat litter or a different type of it is also this messy and unhealthy. Not only is it bad for humans, but one of our cats has asthma. I cannot expect him to use this without causing a flare up in his lungs. I made a video to demonstrate just how bad it is but I think I can only load photos.
Cat is fascinated with this litter!
This litter tracks more than I care for, but it is virtually dust free compared to clay and silica. My cat is an over groomer who I suspect may have an allergy to other litter. She hasn't been grooming as much since using the Frisco grass (and she spends a LOT of time hanging out by the litter box now) I don't know what her fascination is, but she'll sit and stare at the litter forever..lol. I checked if there were any insects in it, but found nothing. She's just strange, I guess. I think this will be the go to litter from now on.
SO much better than clay litter
I thought I didn’t like this litter because it does track like crazy BUT then I went back to the clay litter I’d been using and that’s when I realized this grass litter is SO much better than clay. The grass clumps every bit as well as clay but isn’t heavy. I feel like I’m sifting through cement trying to use up the clay litter I bought after this and I HATE it. I really wish this litter was cheaper but the aggravation it cuts down on is worth the higher price to me. In hindsight all cat litters track and this one isn’t any worse than any others.
Cat didn't like it
Our 10 year old cat didn't like the texture. He didn't use it at all. I moved that box out to the garage to see if he would try it, after two weeks not even a foot print in it. I was hoping for a lighter weight litter with less dust. The dog was grazing on it like it was a snack. Pretty expensive experiment.
A viable alternative to clay
I'm surprised at how good this product actually is. I've tried several kinds of alternative litters, but we kept ending up back at clumping clay. This stuff has been a hit with the cats. Paw feel is apparently nice, so no one is pooping right next to the box. The texture is cat-friendly--similar to the sand they used in the deserts where they evolved. They like to dig in it way more than what's necessary to bury their waste; seems to satisfy a natural urge. At the same time, it's lighter than sand or clay, so they don't have to dig with such force that sprays of litter go shooting out of the box behind them. I like that we're not all going to be at risk for sinus problems, bronchitis, or even silicosis from stirring up boxes of dry clay powder everyday, multiple times a day. The odor control is better than clumping clay, and the clumps don't form that disgusting paste along the bottom of the box that clumping clay does. The clumps are also much lighter, so your garbage doesn't weigh 500 lbs anymore. I even like the color of the litter in the box--a nice, organic beige. Great stuff!
My pick of the Litter
Due to my limitations, I found myself needing to switch litter. The clay was just too heavy these days. I didn't know what to get so I compared Smart Cat Grass, SWheat Scoop, Frisco Grass and Tidy Cat Light Weight. Smart Cat was similar to the Frisco but the larger grains did not sift as easy as the Frisco. Tidy Cat was a bit dusty and it tracked like the clay litter had. SWheat Scoop, in my opinion was the worst of the lot. It tracked, was difficult to sift and had a tendency to stick to the box even with daily cleanings. I guess being a wheat product and knowing that you can make paste with flour and water, I should have realized that possibility before I purchased it. The Frisco Grass litter sifts freely through the scoop, it does track a bit but does not carry far and can easily be swept up because it doesn't seem to stick to the floor like clay litters will. My cat's feet stay much cleaner with the grass litter. Frisco Grass does not have immediate odor control but the odor from feces dissipates within minutes and after the box is cleaned, there is no residual odor but more of a natural scent. It has excellent clumping ability and is extremely lightweight. My cats were very accepting of the Frisco grass and did not need any encouragement to use it. If I had any issue with the Frisco grass, it would be the cost but all the lightweight litters are pricey and it is in line or less costly than many on the market. with my new found limitations, Frisco Grass Cat Litter won my little comparison test and I'm glad I found it.
Really Great
On a budget? Me too. But it lasts so much longer! This is expensive to buy, no question about it. However, I've done the math and it has turned out to be less expensive than my previous "cheap" cat litter. It really lasts a long time as you don't need to use as much. And it is easy to scoop and it does clump. It smells like fresh cut grass. I'm on a budget - I couldn't afford this if it wasn't so economical to use. ... My 4 cats all had a rough start in life. They are all rescues. Having them use clay litter and then having them inhale that dust which is toxic, was not what I wanted for them. I used to buy pine litter, but a few didn't like it. The chunks were a little too large. . So I searched and searched and finally found this. It is safe, smells good and the cats love it. The pieces are small, round and white and easy on the cats feet. Zero to little dust - but even if there was dust, it will not harm your cat unlike clay litter. Tracking: yes there is tracking. But if you place a small rug next to the litter pan it catches 99% of the litter. You will be amazed how light the litter is. The seeds come from a type of white Sorghum Grass plants. Eco friendly in every way. I added a pic of the red type of seeds before it is processed, but this litter is the white type.

So I just rescued two Cats and used this litter. I’m happy the cats used the box, but this litter now every where in my house. It does cover the smell pretty good, not worth this huge mess.
