Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on dogs. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By also destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • Does not work

    By on

I have used Frontline exclusively for my 2 small dogs (12 lbs). Put it on the first of every month, and we have a flea infestation. Not only has Frontline not killed any fleas, it has not repelled them. Switching to Nextgard, using Capstar tablets and flea baths, and having our home sprayed until we can get the situation under control. Frontline has cost significant amounts of money, I thought my babies were protected but they aren't, and instead are now miserable. I talked to my vet who told me that this is not unusual and they don't recommend Frontline anymore.

  • Doesn't work if there are fleas already

    By on

I bought this to use on my dog because I had run out of his prescription flea and tick medicine and had been battling fleas for a month and a half. My neighbor uses this on her 2 dogs and has nothing but success, so I tried it. When I talked to my groomer, she said she what they don't tell you is that if your dog already has fleas, this will not get rid of them or kill the ones on the dog. I ended up having to give my dog several home baths and then take him to another groomer to finally be flea free. Now I have 5 unused tubes!

My dog was always jumping as if something was biting his bud, scratching himself, chasing his tail, and running scare, sometimes he even screamed, I thought he might have a severe case of allergies or something worse, but my Vet recomended Frontline Plus Flea and Tick, and that did the trick. I put it on him once a month, and it works wonderfully. It's easy to apply, and he loves it, I think he knows that's the answer to his problems...!

Pros: I love Heartgard for all my dogs and cats that I have loved. They have provided me so much unconditional love and happiness. I have been a loyal Heartgard fan for over 25 years. CHEWY is the best PET WEBSITE bar none, on the Internet or retail stores. They have the best prices and work with you if you are low income, or a senior pet lover. Please support them. • Works for us

I tried Flea 5xPlus and it worked for a little while but doesn't seem to be keeping the fleas off my dogs any more. I never had that problem with Frontline so I'm going back to buying the front line.

Awful! This didn't get rid of fleas at all! I always used Advantix and was happy with it. My husband bought Frontline and it doesn't work at all, so back to Advantix I go.

  • No worries

I worry about my girl bringing fleas or ticks into the house. I used to use an oral tablet but begin to rethink about chemicals she was ingesting so I tried Frontline and so far have had good results.

  • Had to change flea medicine

    By on

I had used K9 Advantage for several years and was very pleased. Then, for some reason this year my two maltese were "covered" in fleas as if they had no flea medicine on. I literally was sitting down with a bowl of alcohol and a swab and picking off around 60-65 per day between the two of them (yes I counted). I switched to Frontline and they are flea-free currently. My guess is the fleas had gotten used to K9 advantage. I will switch again if the problem resurfaces.
