The amount of food your dog needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your dog’s ideal weight. We suggest feeding twice a day. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Regular exercise will help maintain a healthy body weight. Love, attention and tummy rubs should be given freely, as often as possible.

Transition Instructions

The transition period should be at minimum, ten days and could take upwards of two weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food and 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for two or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food and 80% old food for two or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his or her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

    Picky dog loves this

    By on

My dog is really picky and has a sensitive stomach. He is doing so well on this food - we used to have to beg him to eat, and now he's excited about mealtime for the first time in what feels like years!! If your dog is picky and has a sensitive stomach, or you're vegan and looking for a super high quality food to feed your dog, or you're not vegan but looking for high quality food, or just if you have a dog, I highly, highly recommend this food.

    No more diarreah or itch!

    By on

Dog didn’t like wellness chicken and oatmeal, had some allergies to it. Vet said she was seeing high cancer rates in dogs with grain free/high meat diet, so I decided to try this. He loves it! And his poop is solid and he’s not itchy. Boyfriend still gives him occasional meat and I feed him half a boiled egg for a treat so he’s not completely vegetarian but that’s ok as long as he’s happy and healthy I don’t care

    Puppy can’t get enough!

    By on

My 8 month old poodle puppy LOVES this food. I bought it because it was organic and vegan. I have been mixing it with his breeder recommended puppy kibble for 4 months now because Gather is not on the list of approved foods for puppy growth in the U.S. It is considered Adult food. He usually eats around the puppy kibble and gobbles up the Gather food. He only eats the rest of the puppy kibble if he’s really hungry. I plan to phase out the puppy kibble ( non vegan) completely when he is considered a fully grown adult.

For the person that gave one star

    By on

Just a heads up, if anyone has difficulties feeding their dogs good quality food, first thing that should be done is add warm to really warm water to the food, let it sit for a few minutes, then add canned or wet food if you choose to do so, mix and serve. I've rescued dogs most of my adult life and I've encountered many picky eaters. With a little ingenuity and some patience, most dogs will eat up "casserole" type dog food.

    Healthy and delicious!

    By on

I wanted to switch my dog over to a healthier more organic kibble but figured it might be difficult to change her tastes. Wrong! She won’t even finish her other food because she loves the Gather so much!

Best vegan food. Allergies be gone!

    By on Top 500 Contributor

Our adopted American Bulldog has very sensitive skin (he’s all white) and was getting rashes and we couldn’t get rid of his tear stains. We tried different limited protein diets (fish, duck, etc..) but it wouldn’t go away. Since switching him to Gather, his tear stains are gone. No more rashes so medicated baths are no longer necessary. And his coat is absolutely gorgeous! I love that this food is organic and non GMO. And it doesn’t use canola oil like other vegan foods. We’re also vegan so I’m relieved I found a food he does well on. His bloodwork was PERFECT! We mix this kibble with Honest Kitchens fruit and veggie formula, or a home made kibble topper. Balanced nutrition for your pet

    By on

This is excellent food, well worth the price. My dogs love it, and gobble it up, and have tons of energy without the usual sensitivities brought on by every other dog food we’ve tried. Two thumbs up!!!

    So far, So good

    By on

seems to be okay so far for my allergic to everything dogs, pretty expensive and all grain but I called the company in Canada and asked if they checked for Aflatoxins in every batch, the lady said "Yes this company does", the good thing is that they have the paperwork to prove all the testing that they do.
