How many dry cups in the 10lb bag?

Answer by ChewyDec 30, 2017
There are approximately 4 cups per 1 pound of food. The 10 pound bag would have about 40 cups and the 3 pound bag would have about 12 cups of food.

Is the meat in Grandma Lucy’s raw or cooked when it is freeze dried?

Answer by ChewyOct 11, 2022
The ingredients are raw when freeze dried. Grandma Lucy's gentle freeze-drying process removes 92% of the water contained in their ingredients leaving a food that is lightweight, compact, shelf-stable without the use of refrigeration and preservative-free. Freeze-drying, as compared to other drying processes such as dehydrating or air drying, is better at retaining the characteristics of the raw food. It is well known that the process retains more flavor components and results in reconstituted textures that most closely resemble the original meats and vegetables.

What is the percentage of actual meet?

Answer by ChewyDec 04, 2019
Approximately 45% of this formula is from animal protein.

I need to know, how many cups do you feed a 18lb dog.?

I want to move my Husky away from dry kibble and was hoping this would be the answer. I read a lot of reviews and vet recommendations and Grandmas was highly rated. Unfortunately, my pet did not care for it at all. I tried serving warm and cold. I tried easy the bite spoonful portions, but he would pick it out and drop it next to his bowl. He wanted to like it, he licked it enough, but overall I think it may have been a texture thing that turned him off. When it comes to wet dog food he has always preferred the chunky stew style over the ground up style. The food was easy to make and can be refrigerated if it isn’t fully consumed, lots of benefits there. Wished it would have worked out.

In three weeks I saw shinier coats. I watched my dogs go through a detox off processed food, it wasn’t something I couldn’t notice. One dog who’s in great shape, I just always thought he was meant to be a little beefy, he slimmed down perfectly, looks better than ever at 3 years old. Will never go back to kibble, and I’ve been feeding kibble as long as I’ve had dogs.

I had to return for refund. While the ingredients don't list anything my dog is allergic to, it had so much filler, my 50 lb dog was pooping more than my 120 lb dog. It made him gassy and uncomfortable. He was also losing weight on it - even though I was feeding at the high end for his weight. There is way too much undigestible stuff in this food. It's too bad; I had high hopes.

Trying what I can to get my picky eater senior dog to eat and she won't eat this. The texture was unexpected. Dry it is mostly powder like and once wet it was almost like really wet dough or bread pudding. Smelled good so I was hopeful she would eat it despite that slim like texture but I had to add a can of cat food shreds to bribe her. Tried 2 days in a row and gave up.

I rotate flavors so my pets don't get bored, and this Lamb one is definitely my dogs' favorite one. Been using Grandma Lucy dog foods (especially grain-free) almost ten years now. Highly recommend - and I always tell folks to add more water than you think and give it a few moments to rehydrate, adding more water if after you give it a stir to "fluff" it, it could use a bit more. Like gravy on a meatloaf, my dogs like their food on the moister side, plus the lamb chunks are denser than veggies and fish, so give them time to soften. One of my dogs gulps her food down, the other delicately nibbles and savors every bite, so knowing one's dog's habits and quirks is priceless - kind of like one's human family (who are way pickier)!
