Not needed on my lab

I received this item and I charged it up and put it on my lab. He wore it on and off for 2 weeks. I guess I have a really good boy as I did not have to actually

I received this item and I charged it up and put it on my lab. He wore it on and off for 2 weeks. I guess I have a really good boy as I did not have to actually push any of the buttons. I did test the sound button and he looked right up at me and wanted to know what that was. If you have a dog that does not listen or take commands very well. This would be a good tool to use. I did not feel that it would be right to just vibrate/shock him if he has not done anything wrong. My son’s dog is still a puppy 1.5 years old and does not listen or behave. I may have him give it a try. If he uses it, I will update with his thoughts on it. I do know that it fit well and had no complaints about the collar.

This training collar is fairly comparable to similar products. We had one already we use around the house (different brand and style) but got this one to keep in the car since we’re always forgetting to pack our other one. Things we really like about this particular product: it came with a test light so my husband didn’t have to okay guinea pig when we first set it up; it has two charge cable ends so we can charge the collar and remote at the same time; the remote has a flashlight on the end - we’ve found very helpful while camping at night; the remote has a lock button so if it’s in a purse or pocket it can’t accidentally shock our pup without intention. (We’ve totally done that with our other product that has not lock!) The levels have a good range to be able to make training adjustments. Our dog responds well to lower numbers but he’s already experienced with the concept, so that may or may not speak to the effectiveness of the product. Overall, we’re very satisfied and have found ourselves using this as our main collar and using our other one as a “back up”

Not a good collar for my dogs

This training collar isn't the best for my dogs because it scares both of them. After I charged it I wanted to test it out to see exactly what it did. I decided

This training collar isn't the best for my dogs because it scares both of them. After I charged it I wanted to test it out to see exactly what it did. I decided to start with the beep setting and immediately scared both my dogs. I've used many different training collars that beeped and it didn't bother them but this one is very loud. On the first setting it's 10 times louder than my other collars. I decided to try another level and it didn't get much louder but the tone was different. Each level was a different tone or pitch which I think is effective but it unfortunately scared my dog's. I decided to try the shock setting second and tested it on my hand on level one. Level one was very uncomfortable! Other collars I've used on the first setting is like a prickling feeling. The first level felt like the fourth on my collars. I didn't bother going up more because I was afraid it would hurt too much. This collar goes up over 15 levels and I can't imagine how that would feel. I definitely won't use the shock setting because I think it will negatively impact my dogs with how strong it is. The last function it has is the vibration which I use most. The first setting is very strong and reminded me of those coaster things you get at restaurants while you're waiting for a table. The first level was a lot stronger than I've used and don't feel the need to increase it because it's kind of obnoxious. The collar itself is very easy to adjust and had no problems fitting it. The remote is a little large and is about the size of a firestick remote. It has nice big LED lights to show you what setting it's on, what level and also what dog. There's a switch on the side that you push when you want to switch dogs and each keeps it's own setting. There's also a lock button so you don't accidentally hit the buttons. It also has a little flashlight on the bottom which isn't that bright and don't feel the need to use it. This seems like a decent collar but everything needs to be toned down a bit and not so strong.

I have been using this with my ~50lb husky mix as a recall tool because she likes to run toward the fence and bark at the neighbor dogs when they come outside. I use the beep and also verbal commands to get her to come back to me when she starts to run toward the fence and then reward with treat. The collar is super easy to use and has a lot of different settings that I haven’t use with my dog but could be useful for dogs that need additional correction.

This is my first time trying a shock collar. The charger and remote charged up very quickly (a handy dual charger is included). The collar was easy to adjust to fit our dog. Once on our walk we were able to test the collar. We had it on the “beep” mode and she responded immediately to the beep. So far so good and it has definitely controlled the unwanted barking when we run into another walker or dog.
