Used to be perfect
My dog used to love this food. Ate it for several years without issues. They recently changed their formula I guess and the new kibble looks dark. My dog is not picky, and she refuses to eat this now. If you asked me to rate this for even the last bag before this one I would’ve given it 5 stars! Not sure why they changed the formula. A brand redesign on the bag is fine when the food is the same. Very disappointing to have to find a new food after trusting this brand for so long.
what changed
Been on this food for 5 years with no complaints. My dog is a tank, she can eat anything (and likely has). The new recipe has made her so incredibly sick. I put her on chicken & rice for two days and she was fine. One day back on kibble and she started pooping blood. Time to switch :(
Something changed
My dog is a food psycho and eats everything including poop. When we received the last batch he wasn't wanting to eat, and we thought maybe he was getting older and took him to the vet to make sure nothing was going on. Weeks go by and still a struggle to get him to eat, however I noticed he was still eating his wet food (different brand) out of the bowl. I bought two trial bags of different brands and he gobbles them right up. It's so disappointing that you changed the food my dog has been on for years and will no longer eat, especially since the bag isn't cheap and is now going to be trash.

Changing the ingredients
I have purchased Halo dog and cat food for many years. Now due to changing the dog food and adding poor quality ingredients like PORK and PORK FAT. I will no longer feed this to my dog.

Our dogs are middle aged and they love Halo dog food and we love the pure ingredients.
Best salmon dog kibble I've found
Our dogs have been eating this brand of food for years now. I started researching salmon-based mixes after it became apparent that one of my dogs has a sensitivity to meat, such as chicken, beef, etc., that causes her to barf up whatever she has eaten that contains such ingredients. She's an unintentional pescatarian. With previous kibbles, she has either gotten sick or just bored over time. This was the only kibble I found that actually has a salmon/whitefish base not blended with other meats, and our vet gave this food a thumbs up. I appreciate the quality ingredients, that there are no nasty by-products or fish meals, that this is made in the U.S., and Halo's efforts at being more environmentally friendly than other brands. I will say that my picky eater can go through waves of not being interested in this food, but I haven't found anything better that meets her dietary needs. So I started adding a small amount of a real salmon/gravy topper to the kibble and now she's more interested.
Healthy food
I changed to Halo after I loss my two English Setters, Rose and Kelly, last year within 5 months of each other from hemangiosarcomas, cancer. A silent killer. I'm still so heartbroken but I have two more furbabies to love and I want the best. My research shows Halo is minimally cooked. My Bodacious and Adele love it. I rescued Adele last year as a 10 yr setter. She's been my angel

I ONLY GIVE THIS TO MY DOGGIE, ...GINGER....... THERE ARE NO BY PRODUCTS OR MEALS , JUST REAL MEAT! .....ONLY THE BEST FOR MY GINGER! ....SHE LOVES LOVES LOVES IT! ..... EVERY TIME SHE RUNS FOR HER FOOD WHEN I AM DONE PREPARING IT, ...... AND LICKS THE BOWL CLEAN...... .. EVERY TIME/ ALWAYS!!
best dog food I ever tried
It’s the only dog food that I ever tried that makes me feel like I’m actually given the best to my dogs. I have a husky and a Golden Retriever, i their coat are healthy and the poop after 1 month have been better. I will keep trying other flavors of the same Halo brand. Love it!
