About Halo Holistic

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that’s made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It’s exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutr

Responsibly Sourced Proteins

Halo Holistic recipes are responsibly sourced, so you can feel good about what you’re feeding your pet. The poultry in their meat-based recipes is sourced with a focus on animal welfare, and the fish they use is either sustainable or wild-caught.

Complete Digestive Health

Immunity starts with a healthy gut. That’s why Halo Holistic is made with prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics for complete digestive health. Prebiotics help nourish good gut bacteria, while probiotics help digest food. Postbiotic compounds help support immune health and overall well-being.

What’s in Your Cat’s Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a “meat meal” hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

High-Quality & Responsibly Sourced

Every Halo Holistic recipe is responsibly sourced and independently certified. Why? Because certification is the best way to ensure that meat is raised in an ethical manner. These independent organizations ensure that ingredients are sourced in an ethical, sustainable and socially conscious way. The result is higher quality ingredients that contain more nutrients — and higher quality food for your pet.

Prebiotics, Probiotics & Postbiotics

Halo gives you more than just probiotics to help support digestive health. While probiotics are important, helping to digest food, absorb nutrients and maintain gut health, they work even better when paired with prebiotics and postbiotics. Prebiotics feed and nourish good gut bacteria, creating the ideal environment for digestion. Postbiotics help support immune health and overall good health. Together, these three are a digestive health powerhouse!

About Halo

Is this brand (halo) cruelty free?
Answer by ChewyJul 18, 2019
Halo's protein sources cruelty free commitment to OrigiNative™ sourcing means that they say no to factory farming and close confinement, instead they choose to work with farmers and ranchers who raise cage-free flocks and pasture raised herds. Halo rejects the factory farm model of close confinement, animals raised with antibiotics, and genetically modified feeds. Instead, Halo fosters naturally raised animals, regenerative soils, and environmental balance. They say yes to whole meat and non-GMO fruits and vegetables and no to rendered “meat meal,” artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

New recipe is Horrible!

Fed 8 cats old blue bag recipe for 9 years. Had to keep bag hidden because they'd tear into it, they loved it so much. They tried to bury a bowl of the new purple bag stuff! Why did you, Halo, change a wonderful product to a really crappy one!? The barn cats don't even like it! No more blueberries. Added more salt. Less good fish added PORK instead. Really bad idea Halo!!!

Unsure I Received Authentic Product

My cats turned their noses up at this food, that they ate fine in the past. Upon further inspection I discovered there is no manufacturer lot or expiration date stamp on the bag. Plus the list of ingredients on the bag I received differs from what is listed on Chewys website. I'm contacting Halo directly to find out what is going on here.

Great for my cats!

My cats were 10 when I switched them to this food and they have always had very sensitive stomachs. They took to this really well though and for the first time stopped throwing up after meals! Very pleased.

Better than ever!

I was super nervous when I realized the company had been sold and the food had changed a bit. We tried a three pound bag to start, then a six pound bag, and the cats have been doing even better than on the old formulation. And they seem to like the taste just fine.

Bad change

Cats loved this until recently. Now they both vomit this up every day and are losing weight. Had to change food today and hopefully we will see improvement in their health soon.

recipe change

My cat has been on this food for 8 years/ it’s for sensitivity. So why on earth would you change the recipe , when it’s for cats with sensitive issues. Now my cat who is 17 has to be moved to a new food. So disappointed by this choice. So annoyed. She’s throwing it up everywhere.

Absolutely horrible smell

I read through all the reviews and I can't believe no one else has mentioned it so maybe it's just my cat, but this food makes his stool smell horrendous. I've had cats for 35 years, fed them many, many brands, and I've never experienced anything like this. His stool is firm, no diarrhea, but it smells just awful. Whether or not it helps with vomiting is also questionable - it may have reduced it a little, but he still has issues and the smell is not worth it.

Holo has been sold

I am very sad that my cat food has been sold to a new company. I tried so many kinds of pet food both my cats would like and could eat as one throws up a lot. Halo fit the bill for both my cats they both ate and liked it and the throwing up significantly decreased. Now in doing research I see it has been sold and the recipe has also changed. This food is expensive, but it was working. I have removed it from my auto ship as Chewy didn’t offer a single small bag to try to reintroduce new food once again (new recipe) so I have opted for a small bag of a different food. If the new food works ok. If not, then I will have to look elsewhere for a small bag of the new Halo food so I can slowly reintroduce it to my cats. They say same food, new look, only keep reading and you will see the recipe has changed. This is frustrating for me and my cats.

too expensive!!

I have been feeding my cats halo white fish for 2+ years! I’ve bought it when it was $11.99 for 6lbs and kept buying when it went to 15.99. Then 20.99. Next was 26.99. NOW ITS $38.99!!!!!!!!! FOR SIX POUNDS!!!! That profit margin is truly something. I have 5 cats who all have allergies & gastric sensitivity issues. They eat 6lbs a week. @chewy I need a recommendation for a similar product please.

My Cats like the Whitefish

First time I've given this brand a try. My cats are really enjoying this brand of catfood. It seems to work well with their digestive systems.
