Has Health Extension been affected by any pet food recalls?

No, our formulas have never had a single recall.

What is the difference between “chicken” meal and “chicken by-product” meal?

Chicken meal is a high quality concentrated protein source that contains muscle meat. By law it may not contain heads, feet or intestines. Chicken by-product meal contains a variety of chicken “parts” including heads, feet and intestines.

Why do you use garlic in certain formulas?

We add a trace of garlic to our canned dog food to increase palatability. While it is a member of the onion family, garlic does not contain a meaningful amount of disulfide and will not cause a dog to become ill.

Where are Health Extension foods made?

All Health Extension products are proudly made in the U.S.A.

What is the shelf life of Health Extension?

Health Extension dry foods have an expiration of 1 year from date of manufacture.

American-Grown Produce

Whole food ingredients grown on American farms provide nutrition you can rely on. Health Extension uses quality carbohydrates like brown rice and oatmeal instead of high-glycemic cereal grains to better suit the metabolic and nutritional needs of canines. And they never source anything from China—not even their vitamins and minerals!

    High quality limited ingredient food

    By on

I ordered a case of Health Extension Salmon on the advice of the customer service agent because the brands that I usually order were unavailable. My collie has severe food allergies and needs a single or limited ingredient food. She loves this food and I believe her licking/scratching/biting has decreased greatly.

Good food enjoyed by my canine crew

    By on

I tried this food on a whim and all three of my dogs like it. It has a bit of a high water content, but because it's primarily fish, that makes sense. It has a good number of calories and is not packed with gravy or anything wasteful. I think it's a good value for the money.

    Samson likes it

    By on

Samson is a very picky eater with multiple food allergies. This makes it very hard to find a food that meets his dietary requirements and he'll eat. He really likes this food!

My dogs really like it and it is not overly stinky for me. The texture is nice for mixing with kibble.

    Great for parathyroid tumor dog.

    By on

My old schnoodle lost her appetite due to a parathyroid tumor causing increased calcium levels in her blood. Surgery isn’t an option for her and zero advice exists on other ways to help dogs with this problem. I reasearched solutions for humans and read an increase in calcium and D3 in diets helps prevent the osteoporosis this tumor can cause. Salmon is a good source of these two things. I mix this into my dogs food and she gobbles it up. I also give her a probiotic chew. She’s gained back weight and is much better now. I know this isn’t a cure, but she’s feeling much better now.

Not a spot left in the bowl!!! :)

    By on

Trigger licks his bowl completely clean. This did not happen with previous canned food. I appreciate the convenience of the pop-top - a definite plus.
