Teaching your dog to sit, stay and heel at your command is easier with the Ultra-Plus Stainless Training Collar with Latch from Herm Springer. This safe and convenient training tool is designed to let dogs know when it’s time to heel. It's made with blunt prongs that help to guide your dog without hurting him. This works because the patented center plate mimics the way a mother uses her mouth to correct her puppies' behavior—the prongs gently pinch the back of his neck, signaling he should stop and listen. It’s great for taking large dogs or tough pullers on a walk, protecting you and your best bud from getting into a dangerous situation. Replacement links are available if you need to create a more custom fit.
Designed to help you train your dog—especially commands like heel, sit and stay.
Features a quick-release snap that helps both you and your pup feel secure.
Gently pinches your dog's neck, mimicking the pinch a mother dog gives her puppies.
Great for walking strong pullers and large dogs, or during obedience training.
Replacement links are available to increase collar size.
To select the most accurate size collar for your pet, measure the center of their neck with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the cloth tape measure snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there's enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pet's neck for comfort.
I have a yellow lab that wants to be the Alpha. As soon as I put the quick release prong collar on her she instantly changed her personality and obeyed my commands that she knew. She stopped fighting me for dominance. Just remember that this is only a training collar until your dog learns her/his commands or needs to be refreshed every so often. Also please read the instructions on how to properly put this collar on you dog.

I am really happy with this collar. It was recommended to me by my French Bulldog's trainer. When he first mentioned a "prong" collar I nearly flipped out. BUT, if used correctly it is a game changer. My vet approved using this collar so I have since ordered 2 more. My Chug constantly barks at dogs on walks. I am amazed at how quick we are able to stop that barking with this collar.
Works great for nervous dog

I bought this because my rescue doodle is scared of everything and this helps him focus on me instead of everything else that makes a sound. There is no pinching and it does not hurt him in any way. It simply helps me communicate with him on the leash.
13 week ACD puppy -- 14" Herm Spring Prong Collar with Latch

Arrived messed up; however enlarged picture and was able to make it look just like the picture.
Size 14" (2.5) minus 3 prongs fit just under the ears (too small to remove 4 prongs so I latched it on the 2nd chain link to make it fit). My 13 week, 25 lb. ACD puppy is all muscle and is extremely strong. She pulls so hard on the leash, I am afraid she will damage or collapse her trachea. Twice, she almost knocked me off my feet and once bolted into the house throwing me into the metal part of the glass sliding door including straining my shoulder joint. In desperation to stop her from pulling, after watching videos on how to fit and use a H.S. Prong Collar, decided to give it a try. So gladArrived messed up; however enlarged picture and was able to make it look just like the picture.

So glad I got the latch; otherwise, I would have never been able to get my hyper-active puppy to sit still long enough to squeeze a link to get it on or off.
I decided to try this collar to stop her from pulling. The first time trying it out, I did not even have a chance to correct her, she bolted out the door, I gave the command wait (she knows it means to sit until I am out the door), she ignored me and the moment she put pressure on the leash, started yelping and ran back to me. It scared me at first, but she did not incur any damage ... I think it scared her. Immediately she walked by my side without pulling, ever so often looking at me for direction. It was so nice not to have her pulling on the leash and walking like a well behaved calm dog.… more

I walk my two German Shepherds together. Had purchased a cheaper brand of prong collar which worked ok. Kept hearing good things about the Herm Sprenger prong collar so I purchased them. Wow, the difference was amazing. With the other prong they would still pull some even after correction. With this collar one correction and no pulling. Love the release latch which makes putting it on and off so easy.
If you purchase a prong collar please make sure you have some training on how to place the collar and use it correctly. I was shown by a trainer but there are some excellent videos out there.

My pups were trained with a professional with a prong collar so that I could walk them nicely . They are two 70 pound goldendoodles.
It is a big help

Our dog trainer recommended it. Boy i am glad she did because it has helped a lot when we are outside walking in the neighborhood. Goose our 4 month old german shepherd won't pull as bad when he is wearing it as I hate being pulled. He is a strong puller if he doesn't have it on and no I am not an old woman either.
Great Training Collar

Best collar in the industry. It is truly amazing how our new lab has learned to walk on a leash with it. We have a 58lb lab and the 3mm wide and it fit great (we had to take a few links out). I would also recommend purchasing a slip collar to accompany this in case it happens to fail (rare, but was suggested on many forums)
The only thing is the website says Stainless Steel but we received a Chrome one.
As a side note, I want to highlight Chewy's amazing customer service. I would purchase again from Chewy simply because how great they were at answering and resolving our questions.

Great training collar

This collar is a miracle for our dog. Trainer says she's as stubborn as any dog he's met. Until we found this collar she was impossible to control even though she is only 7 months old. The collar exerts even pressure (without hurting her) so she responds to commands instantly. It will still take a while to get her to be fully trained but she really turned a corner with this collar. The snap release is especially helpful - similar Sprenger collars require hooking and unhooking using the prongs which is difficult when the dog is thrashing around.
