Has anyone noticed that many cans of this dog food have large air pockets in the middle of can of food? How can the weight be consistent as stated on can if some of the cans are not 100% full?
Answer by ChewyOct 11, 2021
The air pockets are a natural occurrence that happens during the spinning process. Each can will be filled with all of the ingredients and will then go on the conveyor belt for the cooking process, it will then go through the spinning process creating a void (air pockets). Similar to baking a cake when you stop mixing and you notice holes in the cake before baking. The cans are weighted appropriately based on the ingredients.

The dry food has hydrolyzed chicken. The canned food just says chicken liver flavor. Does that mean the chicken in the canned is not hydrolyzed?
Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2021
This canned formula contains Hydrolyzed Chicken Flavor. Please refer to the attached photo below for a complete list of ingredients:

Major gag me

This was prescribed by our vet. Our German Shepard has always had major gastrointestinal issues. He is also subject to ear and eye infections. He is 14 months old. And a picky eater. He will eat the kibble but the can is so gross and the texture is very sticky. I will continue to give him the kibble in this brand but I’m going to give him an ID turkey as can to mix with it. He is a very picky eater and gets extremely distracted eating. Please change the form or texture of this can food.

Weird but works

In reading the other reviews, I would agree it is a weird constancy and does not smell great. It is difficult to mix with the dry version of this food because of the consistency but I add a little warm water to it. That being said, my dog seems to like it and what is even better is that his ear scratching, paw licking, and just general scratching has been reduce about 95%. Pretty amazing. We have even been able to reintroduce a treat that he loves with no adverse reaction. We still limit all other consumption of treats because he has had such great relief since changing to this food. I would also suggest having it come in smaller cans, for smaller dogs.

happy Baby (Dog)

I have been feeding my dog other foods that was not working. She has been chewing on her body and mostly her paws for 10 years. She was getting all kinds of rashes on her and it was so unbearable for her. The vet recommended this food with my dog losing her teeth. I love it! My dog looks so much better. She is not going crazy bitting her feet off. She is at peace. Yes it’s more expensive, think about it. You get what you pay for

Food switch

My Pup enjoys this food, we had to switch from his original food due to an issue with Bladder crystals, Thankfully no issues switching to this new food. Everything seems to be working like it should.

Good and tasty

The food is good, helps with sensitive stomach and allergies. It is hard to mix with dry food but a simple fix is to add a little water. My dog loves it too.

Not what I expected

1st of all, it's expensive. So when you pay for expensive canned dog food you expect it to be and look edible. It smells and looks bad. My dog apparently doesn't seem to mind it but I am not comfortable with it. I will not purchase again.

Goopy and Tasteless

Seems to have helped my yorkies skin problem. Grateful for that. BUT there are TWO problems with this product. First, Scooter has decided he doesn't like the taste. He walks away when I put the plate down. He walks around a few times and finally gives up and he eats. Shouldn't it have some taste interest? I wouldn't eat tasteless food. Second problem is what I don't like about the product: consistency. It is goopy and unpleasant to have to get my fingers in it in order to get it out of the spoon and on the plate. Like a loose peanut butter. And even more it the fact that the cans are not always full. There will be a huge bubble space in the middle. About ¼ cup of food! At these prices that is annoying! The empty space is obviously cause by the machine filling the can. You can see it goes into the can in a circular pattern. So to sum up: I don't like the product because of its loose consistency and the fact that I'm not getting what I paid for: a FULL CAN of food. Secondly my dog doesn't like the product because it apparently doesn't have a taste that he makes him want to eat it. Suggestion to you people: Add a little peanut butter or cheesy flavor. I would send you photos of the cans only I'd have to email them. Send me an address.

Moldy and hard

The food is hard and had white spots on it. It also smells. I am concerned that it may contain mold.

Good product

It’s a good product, my dogs are eating it but it needs to be available in smaller cans because if you don’t use the full can and have to refrigerate it the food gets really hard.

Mixed results

My shih tzus have very bad skin allergies and was prescribed this diet. They both seem to like it but it isn't the best smelling and it is as sticky as peanut butter. I add a little warm water to it so it can mix with the dry food better. The fact that there is only one flavor is a little disappointing as well but I have noticed that not only are their skin allergies improving but their energy is increased greatly...including my 12-year-old. I will continue using this food and add some additional whole food treats in the food for enticement...they adore the dried pumpkin and apple treats I make for them so break that up and mix in.
