How Hill's k/d Keeps Kidneys Healthy
k/d Kidney Care - Chicken or Ocean Fish
My cats were doing well on this for a year or so but the batch I received in April 2023 has a different consistency and smell and my cats will not eat it. I had three cases and a mixture of batch numbers on the cans in each case - but none of them are working for my cats. So it seems like they changed the formula :(
After 6 months of trying various foods that my cat with CKD will like for one meal, but not the next, and constantly swapping foods hoping the variety will convince her to eat more, I finally got a few cans of the chicken stews from a friend. It turns out this food is so good that she’ll happily eat it for every meal. Of course, I discovered this after I just got a new shipment of other varieties of kidney care food that I’ll swap in periodically to make her appreciate this food even more. I’m just glad I finally found something she really seems to enjoy, rather than just tolerating a so-so food. The photo is completely unrelated to the food, but this is Dori, my CKD cat.
Thank you for this great product, my cats love it and their health is better! Also thanks to Kayla for helping with our account after my daughter passed. We received the beautiful flowers that she sent and we were so surprised! What an unexpected blessing during a sad time for our family! You went above and beyond!
Moose became bored with Royal Canin Renal foods. I bought Hill's K/D at the Vet's suggestion. He loved it but for the first 2 cans he had diarrhea and vomited. His Vet suggested I mix it in with the Royal Canin and let him gradually adjust. If it works great but if not discontinue it. It has worked and I now do a 1/2 combination of both brands and he just loves it
My cat has been eating k/d for a couple years now. He loves the k/d tuna stew; however, he doesn't like the k/d chicken and veggie stew. There are big chunks the the chicken stew and he won't eat it at all. If you need to order k/d for your fur baby, order the tuna stew. It's much smoother and consistent. Wish I could've order a couple cans versus a whole case.
Recent blood tests showed my 17 year old kitty has kidneys that are in decline. The vet recommended this. She has been most picky about the texture of wet foods but she seems to like this.
My little gray cat ate the first few cans of this but refuses more than a bite after I bought the minimum order of 24 cans. I'd rather have had a few for the test.
My kitty will only eat 1 type of Friskies canned food. She loves this! I am mixing this with the Friskies because it is so darn expensive. And with frequent Dr visits and medications...it adds up.
Earlier this year our Gemma had stopped eating her hard food and lost a chunk of weight come to find out she has kidney disease . Our veterinarian highly recommended hills prescription kd food. Had a hard time finding one she would eat and Veterinarian said to try the stew, and she absolutely loves it.
My vet said it's alright to add Tuna Juice from a can of low sodium tuna to add flavor; or try low sodium canned Chicken too. Don't try to force it on a cat, if they're not eating hills science diet. If you've. just started it, try half your old food, and half new food. Your cat will start eating it. >^..^<
