My cats don’t eat their portion size in one sitting, how long can the wet canned food sit out before it would be considered unsafe to eat?

Answer by ChewyNov 10, 2020
Your pet’s bowl should be emptied of moist or canned food not eaten by your cat or dog within 4 hours if the ambient temperature is above 50°F. Opened cans should be stored in the fridge, at temperatures between 40-45°F, for a maximum of 5-7 days. Any cat or dog food remaining after that time should be thrown out.

My girls are becoming full figured as they age. One of my cats is very picky about wet food and the other about dry food. They both like the metabolic wet and dry line (though we did have to mix with old food for a few days to make the transition). I'd call this a win win for sure!

Our DSH is a rescue from a food-insecure kittenhood, and still acts like he never knows whence his next meal is coming, if at all. He's chonked up gradually by thievery, and has done a few snarf-and-barfs before he got a slow feeder. What I'm saying is this is a cat that LOVES to eat. So if he turns up his nose at this food, THAT is saying something.

Not happy

My cat eats some of it and walks away. It sticks to her mouth and she keeps trying to spit it out. She only eats it when she is really hungry and will not eat

My obese cat is now on prescription dry and wet food. She made a great transition to the new dry food but just is not really big fan of this wet food. She might eat a couple bites and it’s better than the vegetable blend, but she does not like itand I don’t think I will buy it again. I’d rather just give her a tiny bit of regular food
