Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |

How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Great Food - Ridiculous Price
By Vickie on Nov 17, 2020
To no fault of Chewy, Hill’s RX food costs are RIDICULOUS!!!! $80 for a 12# bag of dry CD??? Thank god I only have one cat (and a dog) and I love them more than humans, but because of food and vet prices, I won’t own pets after these two. I’m 64 and have always had several pets my entire life, all of which have been rescues. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to help the helpless much longer. Chewy is excellent and I remain loyal to them.

By GranShe on Sep 7, 2020
Our cat says his new food is the cat's meow. e said he didn't much care about the price, but if was good with us, it was good with him. nd, he didn't care whether it was delivered right to ur door. He never helps with anything anyway!

Great Food For Urinary Health & Weight Control
By jpmgood on Aug 3, 2020
This prescription food is popular with our 4 cats and is great to prevent urinary crystals and promotie weight control.
-
Great taste, bag too big
By ABerg on Jan 28, 2020
My cat loves this food! My cat ate the Urinary Care type previously and loved it, too. Unfortunately, he loved it a bit too much and started gaining weight so his vet put him on the Metabolic + Urinary. He has been on these 2 foods for a couple of years and has not had a urinary tract infection since starting them. The only complaint I have is that the smallest available bag is 6.35 lbs. and lasts us over a month and a half and even with the seal on the bag, it does not stay fresh. I have purchased an airtight container to store it in hoping this will help, but it would be nice to have a 4 lb.bag option like is offered in the Urinary Care only type.

This is a wonderful product
By Lulu on Jan 15, 2020
All of my cats love this dry food. I buy it for one cat but the others gobble it down too. I know it is pricey but it sure beats the even pricey-er vet bills!

good weight loss product and he likes it
By Taliskersmom on Aug 1, 2019
My cat has been off and on this product for over 2 years now. It was originally for his buddy but they both needed to lose weight. He has gone from 15 pounds to 11.8, which our veterinarian says is appropriate for him. He's a big framed cat.
