Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.

So far so good
By Annie on Feb 19, 2021
Had to change my cat’s prescription food due to a production issue with the previous company the made it. Really frustrating to deal with in this pandemic!! I had not used Chewy before but they made things really easy to switch over. My cat loves the new food & he has done good so far on it. Fingers crossed this company doesn’t have any production issues!!

Great urinary care dry food for my cat!
By Friskies on Feb 1, 2021
My cat loves this special diet food. It gives him something to snack on between his wet food feedings. I have multiple cats and they beg for this food so I have to control access to it or they would eat it all! I plan to try the Ocean Whitefish version next. Great urinary care cat food for my cat’s special needs!

Highly, recommend
By Scout on Jan 4, 2021
2 of our cats have/had crystals, which can be fatal in male cats. We've been using this food For almost 2 years now with no issues. We started when we were prescribed the Royal Canin urinary food which caused our cats there throw up daily and we didn't figure it out until we switched. Our respected vet recommend to feed this to all of our cats even though 1 of them does not have crystals we have 3 cats and she also recommend to feed it to them right away and for their lifetime.

My cat loves this!
By Anne on Jan 10, 2021
My male cat needs special urinary care food and I had been feeding him wet food only, which is rather expensive. I thought I might be able to cut down on costs a little if I added this dry food as a part of his diet. He's fussy about food taste so I had my fingers crossed that he'd like this, and he sure does - almost more than the wet food. Maybe it's the chicken...

Does the job
By CountryPami on Feb 17, 2021
This was prescribed for my male cat who got bladder crystals. I noticed right away the increase in his urine output. Had no trouble getting him to eat it. And it actually dissolved the crystals.

recommend if needed
By health on Feb 8, 2021
It is spendy, but my cat is healthy and hasn't had any more issues with UTI/crystals. He's been on it for over a year now. This was the first time I saw it on sale. It is cheaper when buying form my vet.

Shipping was very slow!!
By Meketa92 on Nov 16, 2020
Product is great. Shipping took exactly 1 week to receive it! The website advertises for 1-3 days shipping and I called the customer service hotline and the lady was rude to me. She proceeded to tell me that the delay was because they don't count weekends as deliverable days. Which is fine...I ordered on a Friday and I received an email from Chewy that it was sent out on Saturday and by counting I should have received it by Wednesday...nope Friday! My cat was out of food by Wednesday. If I would have known it was going to take a week to receive my cat's food...I would have used a local company.

Surprising
By Toby on Nov 2, 2020
First off, very impressed with the speed upon which my ordered was handled, including getting ok from our vet since this is a prescription product (like three days - from order to delivery). I opted for the autoship program (appreciate initial discount on first order). I'm looking forward to the convenience of home delivery. Our cat all of sudden started having issues with urination in the house (mostly an indoor cat). Vet suggested he might be stressed which was so odd cuz nothing had changed. He does like occasionally going outside and decided that could be part of the problem. We have since allowed him to be both indoors and outdoors. Switching him to this food has also helped. Hoping with colder temps this winter, his need to be indoors more, the food will continue to help prevent inappropriate indoor urination. … more

Excellent Food for Chewy's Urinary Care
By Chewy on Jan 23, 2021
My Chewy was diagnosed with Crystals. The vet put Chewy on this dry food along with c/d wet food. Haven't had any issues with Crystals since.
