Does the canned food have to be purchases by the case? Trying to find something my cat will eat and don't want to buy an entire case. So far he hasn't liked the brands I have tried.

Answer by GailApr 05, 2025
Your vet should have by the can.

Does this canned cat food need to be refrigerated once it has been opened?

Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2018
Your pet's bowl should be emptied of moist or canned food not eaten by your cat or dog within 4 hours if the ambient temperature is above 50°F. Opened cans should be stored in the fridge, at temperatures between 40-45°F, for a maximum of 5-7 days. Any cat or dog food remaining after that time should be thrown out.

my cat will eat this, but only the first crack of the can... and she only eats a small portions, so after a few hours, even if i have covered and stored in the fridge, she won't eat it... so its REALLY expensive if she will only eat the first couple of bites of each can. *sad face*

The moist texture and the inclusion of tuna (her favorite!) made this food an instant hit - at least so far. You know cats. They love it one week and hate it the next. I've served it twice, however, and she eats it right up. Having the food supplied in the smaller cans is a plus - no refrigerated leftovers my cat will reject.

My cat has UTD and needs a prescription diet. I have used the Hills brand ever since diagnosis & we love it. The wet food is a little thick for my cats liking, so I end up putting some warm water in the bowl & mixing the food until it’s a thinner gravy consistency. Some other pet parents might be having a hard time with this food, so try adding in some water & changing the texture! My cat got tired of the chicken flavor so we switched to the tuna & he loves it!

Sebastian is loving this food. I was hesitant to give it to him, because he's picky, however he just had surgery and need the prescription diet food.

This food definitely does what it’s prescribed to do, but unfortunately it made my cat vomit nearly every time, even after the introductory period. She started dreading breakfast, poor baby, but she has to be on a prescription diet or else she will develop bladder stones. This food helped correct her pH but it was making the poor thing sick every day, even after I switched flavors. I had to stop using it.

I bought this thinking my cat would like the tuna flavor/smell. He did like it initially but after a few days he was throwing up every time he ate it. Now we are back to the chicken metabolic/cd food that he wasn't thrilled about. I wish Hills would make these foods in a pate.
