Why does this have corn? How is corn good for cats? Vet has recommended this for one of my cats, but I really don't feel good about the ingredients or the price.

Answer by ChewyOct 02, 2020
Corn, as an ingredient, serves as a highly digestible carbohydrate source, as well as a source of protein and vitamins.

What is the difference between "original C/D" and "C/D stress"? As long as I read product description and nutrition, I don't think "C/D stress" contains any special formula for stress.

We are a two cat household. One cat has special dietary needs and has to be on a urinary prescription formula after a urinary blockage. He will eat literally anything you put in front of him. The other cat is extremely picky and only eats chicken flavored foods. The vet originally had us on Purina Vet Prescription Diet, but the picky cat absolutely hated it. He would meow loudly before eating and often throw up after. It got to the point where he was eating so little he was losing weight. After establishing that nothing was medically wrong with him, we felt confident that he was simply showing his absolute displeasure at the quality of the food. I was relieved to learn that Science Diet carries prescription food as well, since picky kitty was raised on the chicken and rice blend. I can't tell you how much happier our household is after switching to this food, it truly is the best of both worlds. Our boys are both getting what they need now and are at a healthy weight!

Although this is very pricey I absolutely love and adore my cat. He’s been on this food for about 6 months now because he began getting urninary crystals. He was growling and hissing while licking his private areas. I took him to the vet and they gave me 7 cans of the food until I ordered my own, not even 48 hours later after the vet visit he was able to pee and had stopped growling and constantly licking himself. It’s definitely worth it to keep your cat healthy and happy.

Seems to be working

This was the only urinary diet that my boy could stomach. He has been eating it for 7 months now. And he is SO much happier. When he has his physical in a few months the vet will check to see if his bladder stones have dissolved. In the meantime, he is playing like he hasn't done in YEARS and really seems to be really happy! Which is wonderful because he has had problems for years but his old vet kept telling us nothing was wrong. Then the new vet found bladder stones and changed his diet!

As good as a treat!

When our cats had to switch to prescription food for bladder stones, it was a challenge. We went through a few brands and they wouldn’t eat anything consistently. This kibble l, however, is a hit! A friend recommended putting it in the treat jar. After the kitties were diagnosed, we eliminated treats so help prevent further recurrences. Well, these are yummy enough to pass as a treat and we throw a few “cookies” on top of the wet food to help the medicine go down. 2 paws up for this kibble!

No more UTIs (both cats like it)

My cat is sensitive and was prone to stress related UTIs Vet recommended this food and cat hasn’t had once since. Also I got a water fountain from chewy and change filter regularly. Make sure cat has good clean water and this food breaks down crystals that can cause UTIs . Both my cats like this food (even though only one has UTi, also good for stress).

The food is great my cats love it. This review is strictly based on where the delivery was placed because I didn’t even know where it was. I never have an issue with deliveries. But I didn’t know where this one got left and it was put on my horse trailer, stuck to it and the residue I now I have to clean off.

Our cat was having trouble spraying around the house. She ended up with a UTI that we treated and then an inflamed bladder that just would not go away so the problem persisted. After the UTI cleared up ahe was fully checked out and it seemed that it must be due to anxiety. We were feeding a super healthy food so I was reluctant to switch to this because if it’s ingredients, however, we are now mixing it in half half with her previous food and it seems to have fixed her problems. Ultimately, I am super happy that it has helped her, even if the ingredients are less than desirable. I would say it truly does work!
