A healthy bladder starts with the right balance of vital nutrients. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which may lead to the creation of bladder stones. They can cause discomfort and lead to more serious problems that require the care of a veterinarian. Stress in the home has been shown to negatively impact bladder health as well. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet c/d Multicare, clinical nutrition specially formulated to support your cat's urinary health while also managing stress. In fact, c/d Multicare is clinically tested nutrition to lower the recurrence of most common urinary signs by 89%. This irresistible food makes it easier for you to bond with your pet with gently cooked, bite-sized chunks of real chicken and natural ingredients with added vitamins and minerals.

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.

Wouldn't eat it
By SweetiePie on Feb 5, 2021
My elderly cat with UT issues is energetic & full of life. With the right diet & care he can be with me for a long time to come. But neither he nor his sister would eat this food. I tried everything I could think of to at least have them use up this very expensive Rx food - mixing with other, more preferred & familiar, wet/dry foods; warming it up; adding gravy/ diluting it; serving in different containers, etc. I don't know why, as it's highly rated, but nothing would get my cats to eat this food. An unusual note: I always remove the paper info strips from around cans to recycle them, but this expensive food uses plastic strips instead of paper. Unnecessary cost?

Helpful food
By Crazycatlady on Feb 4, 2021
I have 2 male cats that eat canned food. They both really like this one. I split one can between the two and water it down. It stretches it and fills them up. They still eat kibble and are still in transition with remainder former food. I do notice that my most stressed cat is less anxious than normal. This food should be a winner after the transition period is over. Being calm is very important so stress doesn't create more urinary crystals.

Perfect!!!!
By SlysMom on Feb 16, 2021
Our furbaby was prescribed this food to alleviate a health issue. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our Vet was unable to fill the standing food order. I searched the internet and low and behold Chewy not only sells the item but had it in stock. Thank you Chewy for making sure our kitty stays healthy and feed.

She likes it!
By LauraJ on Jan 25, 2021
Our cat Esme has been on a prescription diet ever since a series of bouts with sterile cystitis. She was put on Royal Canin Urinary Calm wet food, but when the company had a recent shortage in production or delivery, we got a prescription for this Hill's Urinary Care Stress food, and slowly introduced it into her diet. She loves both, perhaps Hills a little better. So now we have two foods for her, and we know that we will always be able to get food for her.

Cats love this!
By MotherOfNakeys on Feb 17, 2021
I cannot speak to whether this has improved my cats health or not, because we haven’t been on this food long enough to assess that. However, all my cats absolutely love this food! It was recommended by our vet.

My cat doesn't like it
By Casper on Jan 11, 2021
Cant really give a great review cause this is a prescription food, my cat doesn't like either flavor available so I am wasting money on food I end up throwing out. Have tried non prescription cat food which he prefers, much cheaper and still has the same effect

Improved stool
By Lori on Jan 17, 2021
I wish I would have found this sooner! This Stress formula has transformed my persian cat’s stool from liquidy to more solid. I don’t know if it really has to do with digestion but his bathroom habits have improved greatly.

Joey does not like food
By meme on Jan 12, 2021
I accidentally ordered this for my cat, should have ordered Royal Canin. Thought I would try it, my cat refuses to eat it. Guess that is where the expression finicky cat came from. Guess I will give away the remaining 23 cans.

Vet prescribed this for my male cat with bladder problem. He hasn't had a recurrence since eating this food. " Bonus " , this fussy cat loves this food. His coat is shinny and thick and he hardly sheds anymore. It's amazing. Can't recommend it enough
