Worried About Your Cat’s Urinary Health?

Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best urinary health solutions for your pet. Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop cat formulas that help support urinary tract and bladder health.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Urinary formula for your cat. These special formulations can:

Dilute Urine

This helps your cat urinate more often, which can help minimize time for stones to form.

Lower RSS

RSS methodology predicts urine crystallization and is used to develop diets that reduce the risk of stone formation.

Maintain Balance

A precise mineral balance can also help prevent stones from forming.

Unfortunately I have terrible luck with cats and urinary issues, as out of 5 cats, 2 of them have had blockages requiring surgery. This time around, we listened to the vet and have ONLY fed my boy Royal Canin Urinary SO food and treats. Luckily, my cat seems to have enjoyed everything except for the "loaf" (pate) style wet food. It has been 2 years now and we have not had any issues. The vet claims he should live the rest of his life blockage free, which we sure hope is true because this food is expensiiive! My cat who doesn't need it likes it too, which is useful when we are going to be gone for the whole day, to make sure the one does not eat the other's food and get himself hospitalized over being a little piggy.

My cat has been on this food for several months and he's bene eating it with no issues, and no issues with crystals. I received a new order recently and he won't touch it. He smells it and walks away. I've tried three different cans and he just went full stop with these new cans. I googled that Royal Canin recently changed the recipe of a lot of their veterinary diets and I guess this was one of them. This sucks because now I have to try to find another food. Why do brand do this knowing cats are so sensitive to food changes???

I have been trying different dry and wet urinary foods for my 11 cats to see which they prefer since two have had struvite crystals and it seems almost all of the urinary wet foods have soy or wheat gluten fake 'meat' in them which my cats leave on their plates. They weren't too thrilled with this food, and the smell made me feel ill, it was like a chemical smell when I opened the cans to feed them. Based on my cats' reactions to this food and mine, I won't order this food again; fortunately, I only purchased a 12 pack to try. I don't recommend.

I have a picky cat who either refuses to eat or will scarf down food and throw it up just to give me the middle finger. I was surprised when she loved this food so much! The kitty gobbles it up and begs for more. That's more than I could have wished for when having to do a life long special diet.

Grootje, our poor rescue who has had so many health issues due to a very sad early life, was recently diagnosed with bladder stones. We had to immediately change both his wet and dry food. I was worried he would have great difficulty adapting, but was happily surprised when he right away seemed to fall in love with this food. Must be yummy!

Health issues (urinary blockages) led to a recommended full diet change. After two blockages and emergency vet visits we switched to a mix of Royal Canin dry kibble and wet food. After trying three different brands of wet food we landed on RC Urinary SO Morsels in Gravy. Our cat appears to really like this wet food. It also seems to agree with his stomach the most. The only drawback is obviously the cost and a veterinarian prescription is required to purchase this wet food.

My emergency vet recommended this Canin urinary SO variety for my 2 year old cat who just had surgery for bladder stones. Kitty LOVES this flavor, not so much the other "loaf in sauce" flavor (that's more of a pate', I have to mix it with water for him). It's easy to serve and doesn't have an unpleasant "cat food" aroma, but I wish it came in slightly larger cans, like the loaf flavor. Not sure why they went with the tiniest of "treat" sized cans...

Health of my cats

I've been feeding my cats Royal Canin Adult Urinary So Morsels (and dry kibble) for at least 8 years. My cat Angus developed a severe urinary/kidney infection

I've been feeding my cats Royal Canin Adult Urinary So Morsels (and dry kibble) for at least 8 years. My cat Angus developed a severe urinary/kidney infection. He needed to go on a special diet. My other two cats did not have the same problems, but they eat communally, so they all eat the same food. Angus has never had a repeat of the urinary/kidney infection. And, my other cats have not suffered any ill effects from eating the same food. Great product!!
