Hill's Prescription Diet y/d Thyroid Care for Cats

Groundbreaking Nutrition for Thyroid Health

Hill's breakthrough formula was designed to help felines with hyperthyroidism thrive. Cats with this disorder have an overactive thyroid gland—meaning it produces too much of the thyroid hormone—but limiting iodine in your cat's food can help regulate it. Prescription Diet y/d does that and more, all in a tasty kibble your cat will love. You may even see a difference in as little as three weeks.

Clinical Nutrition

With Hill's, it's not just high-quality ingredients that count. Their focus is on the proper balance of nutrients in every recipe. So, Hill's designed food to help pets with health conditions, providing the right nutrients to support their health. Hill's alliance with veterinarians puts them in a position to find a nutrition recommendation for your pet, no matter what health issue your pet is facing.

Formulated by Veterinarians

Hill's Prescription Diet started with a veterinarian's belief that some health issues could be managed through nutrition. What began as a theory has now been proven through extensive research by a team of over 220 vets, PhD nutritionists and food scientists. The results can be seen in Hill's Prescription Diet therapeutic pet foods.

Meeting the Highest Standards

Providing a food that delivers exactly what it says it does is Hill's number one priority. In fact, they perform over five million safety and quality checks every year. They've established relationships with trusted suppliers and will only accept ingredients that meet stringent standards.

The Taste Factor

You might know that Hill's Prescription Diet is good for your pet, but she's only concerned with the taste. Even though they place a heavy emphasis on nutrition, Hill's hasn't forgotten about palatability. Savory ingredients are combined to produce foods with enticing aromas, textures, and shapes that your pet can't resist.

Get creative with leftovers

Took over a week, but my 18 year old girl who can't take thyroid medication anymore is finally devouring this food. She gets a half a can each meal so we had to get creative with the cold leftovers. I add a little water and microwave it for 15 seconds then mash it all up. Only way she will eat it. I also add a little bit of water even to the fresh half because the food is very dry. Good luck!

Reversed 'hyper' thyroidism

Our cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Metabolism running too fast, eating constantly & losing weight. The Hills Y/D formula for cats is iodine free (main substance the body uses to make thyroid hormone). We continue to feed him this food & most importantly ONLY/exclusively this food, and he is doing great; gaining weight & coat is back to being non-greasy & not shaggy.

Good for you.

My cat took to it OK but even half of the can is too much for one meal and she will not eat the rest of it if it's left out (covered) or refrigerated so I end up wasting a lot of the can. It's also expensive but it's for her health so I have to continue on with this.

Didn’t work for my cat

Wish it were made in small tins. My cat would only eat a teaspoon and no leftovers. She’s 17 years old and I’m giving her the food she enjoys. Will be donating the remaining cans

Fussy thyroid cat

My cat eats the food which surprises me. But I add alittle water and chop the cat food to more a softer consistency. He is really fussy. His fur and eyes look so much better too.

Healthy, but will the cat eat it.

For the price, it's cheaper to just buy thyroid meds(usually 5mg of Methimazole). Buy a pill crusher, crush them up, and put them in something that you know your cat will eat. Mine is very finicky and didn't care for this flavor, and there are no others to pick from.

Perpetually Hungry Cat Snub

We have no idea whether this food will eventually help our cat bring his thyroid hormones in line since our perpetually hungry cat turns his nose at this food. Takes one bite and walks away. It's super sticky, like paste. The dryest "wet" food I've every seen. To get our cat to eat it, we have to mix it in a 1:2 ratio -- one third this stuff + two thirds regular wet cat food.

Needed for hyperthyroidism

My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism so I had to change his diet. I ordered this because I trust Prescription. I do wish it was a bit less pate and more stew textured

Very high Thyroid

My dear little cat went from 11lb to 7.5lb before we knew what was wrong with her. She would eat too much but had constant emesis and diarrhea. Lost huge amount of hair. Started on Hills wet food prescription diet and less than 3 weeks later all emesis and diarrhea is over. She loves this food. I am so grateful to have my cat back with her loving, playful spirit.
