Felimazole Coated Tablets (methimazole) are indicated for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats.
Side effects usually occur during the first three months of treatment. They may include loss of appetite, vomiting, and lethargy. These typically occur within the first two weeks of treatment and may eventually stop even with continuation of treatment. Less common side effects are yellowing of the gums, skin, or eyes (jaundice) which may signify liver problems. Itching of the face, scratching, or increased bleeding tendencies may occur.
Do not use in cats with hypersensitivity to methimazole, carbimazole or the excipient, polyethylene glycol. Do not use in cats with primary liver disease, renal failure, autoimmune diseases, hematological disorders or coagulopathies.
Use of Felimazole Tablets in cats with renal dysfunction should be carefully evaluated. Reversal of hyperthyroidism may be associated with decreased filtration rate and a decline in renal function, revealing underlying renal disease.
Please note product may arrive in a Chewy Pharmacy vial, manufacturer packaging is shown for reference.

Use this medication as directed by your veterinarian.
Store at controlled room temperature 77°F with excursions between 59°-86°F permitted. Keep the container tightly closed in order to protect from moisture.
Cats with hyperthyroidism have a thyroid gland that is producing excessive amounts of thyroid hormones. This causes a dramatic increase in the body's metabolic rate.
Felimazole Coated Tablets contain the active ingredient methimazole and are given to your cat every day to block the production of thyroid hormones.
Follow the instructions given by your veterinarian. Felimazole Coated Tablets are best given directly to your cat, but the small, sugar-coated tablets can also be hidden in the food.
Speak to your veterinarian. Do not give a double dose next time. If your cat is due to have a monitoring blood test within a couple of days of missing a tablet, make sure you let your veterinarian know as it could affect the blood results.
This pill is tiny and coated. I put it in my cat's wet food twice a day and he gobbles it right up. He has been on it 3 weeks and is already feeling much better. If your cat likes canned food, this is the easiest way to administer the medication. I initially tried the transdermal meds given in the ear. He didn't mind having it rubbed in his ear at first but after a week started running off whenever he heard the applicator click to get the medication to come out. Giving it in his food is much less hassle.
First, this medicine works, but the manufacturer really needs to make lower dose tablets. I have to cut the tablets into quarters. We had to increase the dosage by adding another quarter pill of 2.5 mg in the morning which is .375 mg. So our cats get 3/4 tablet in the morning and 1/2 tablet at night before bed. A quarter tab extra in the morning was enough to decrease our cat's T4 from 3.0 to 1.4. The tablets are coated and not meant to be cut. Cutting them in half is difficult enough. Cutting them into quarters is extremely tricky. My vet says it's widely accepted that Felimazole is optimal given twice daily instead of once daily as described in the insert. The tablets are coated and not meant to be cut into smaller doses and yet it's very commonly prescribed at much smaller doses. Please offer smaller doses. I see you offer a 1.25 mg tablet in Canada. At least offer that in the U.S. as well.
This seems to be working very good, the vet gave her some but they didn't have a coating to help coat her stomach and she was getting very sick and now these coated ones seem to be working so far so good.
Unfortunately these pills did not work for me as I have to cut them in half and the hard coating and tiny size make that next to impossible so I went back to the generic ones But I love Chewy anyway
This is an excellent formulation of a bitter medication for cats. Be advised, however, that the sugar coating dissolves away very quickly. If you are hiding the pill in food, do so immediately before feeding and make sure it is just barely hidden so your cat will eat it early on. Unfortunately, my cat developed bad side effects from methimazole after a couple of weeks and now refuses to take the pill form no matter how well hidden they are. That is no slight on this product, it is just the nature of the medication involved.
You folks are the best. I had two different customer service reps that were extremely helpful. They did what was needed and made it happen. And they spoke English!! I called recently to inquire about Nutrena Cat and Kitten. The rep did some checking and said it looked like you would be bringing in that line. As soon as you get it you will have all my cat food business. Many thanks, Hollis
I thought I was purchasing Two bottles of the product pictured. What I got was one blue bottle of pills. I don't know if these are old, outdated or what, since they did not come in the manufactured bottle.
I bought these pills to help my cat survive her hyperthyroidism. They are easy to give to her and she easily swallows them. That makes helping her live a better life is effortless. Well worth it!
This product has done wonders for my 16 yr. old cat that has hypothyroidism. I have had no problem getting him to take the pill and he has quit howling. I will see how much improvement it's made on his next Vet appt.
This is prescribed by my vet, but it is so much more reasonable from chewy. Thank you thank you. Thank you. now please carry metronidazole for another cat.
