When will Renal Support D be back in stock?

what do the D E, S, and T stand for??
Answer by ChewyJun 20, 2018
The delectable (D) formulas comes in a pork and chicken in chunks in gravy, the enticing (E) comes in a pork and chicken pate, the savory (S) comes in pork and fish kibble, and the tasty (T) comes in pork, salmon, and chicken pate (dog formula) and sliced (cat formula).

My cat was just diagnosed with kidney failure. I'm giving her Renal Support E. What does intermittent or supplemental feeding mean? Am I supposed to be adding this to the regular soft food she was getting?
Answer by ChewySep 16, 2020
Use Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal Support only as directed by your veterinarian.

Would the D or T formula be acceptable for an older cat who has fewer teeth? My cat eats E right now but she tends to like gravy formulas better; I'm concerned she would struggle to eat chunks or slices. Or can the chunks/slices be mushed up with a fork? Any help appreciated!
Answer by ChewyJun 06, 2020
For your pet's health and well being, we suggest consulting your veterinarian to find the most appropriate formula.

Fur baby not interested

My 14 year old fur baby who has kidney disease is not fond of this particular wet renal cat food. None of the renal wet cat food really. I've tried different ones. There is not a great selection of wet renal food for cats. They just don't like the taste and it's money down the drain when they don't eat it. It's not cheap! I'm trying to find someone whose cat has kidney disease that I can give the wet food too. I can't afford to throw it away.

If my cat likes it, I like it

Likely most of us have cats that are a bit finicky and when they come down with CKD, it’s worrisome when you hear that they can only eat one kind of food for the rest of their lives. I am so happy that my cat loves this food! She likes it in every flavor and definitely prefers the chunks with gravy to the pate.

A favorite!

My senior cat was just diagnosed with kidney disease. We switched her to royal canin prescription diet hard food but she has always loved wet food as a treat. My vet (who is also my best friend) said the wet food is probably better for adding moisture into her diet so I got a case of this to give as an added treat. We fed her friskies wet food as a treat prior to her diagnosis. She made the transition with no issue. She loves this wet food and it doesn’t smell terrible like other wet foods either which is a win! I do wish the cans were bigger so it would be more value for the money as it’s quite pricey.

Great but EXPENSIVE

My picky 17 year old cat with renal disease eats this food with enthusiasm. However, the 3 oz. cans are tiny and EXPENSIVE. Please royal canin (and chewy), don’t prey on people’s need to provide their animals with proper medical care. My little senior cat eats approximately 2.5 cans per day which is 75 cans a month. $150 is a lot to spend on cat food each month.

Only canned food my cats will eat.

The three Royal Canin canned foods for renal support are the only foods my 2 compromised cats will eat consistently, and my other cat who is digestively healthy will eat it too (but he eats almost anything). When this food becomes unavailable we really struggle. Please Royal Canin, do NOT discontinue production of any of your renal support products. Thanks Chewy for your effective communication, convenient, dependable delivery and terrific customer service.

This item was purchased because my cat is having Kidney issues due to two Anal Gland infections over the past 3 years. Was surprised that she liked the flavor. Glad I purchased this for her.

Satisfies the pickiest eaters

My beautiful boy has had his kidney disease progress and the vet recommended starting a kidney diet which made me super nervous. Pluto is the pickiest eater I've ever seen and would only eat salmon or shrimp fancy feast wet food in gravy (no pâté) and went on a hunger strike when I attempted to feed him anything else. I saw in the directions to mix it with old food over the course of a week, which quite frankly I tried with the Purina N/F and the Hill's k/d diet and he still refused to touch his food, but he was attracted to the Royal Canin D immediately without it being mixed into his old food. I took such a sigh of relief after the first week of him loving the food and practically begging for more! His diet is now exclusively Royal Canin with about two cans of D, one in the morning and one at night, and a large scoop of S dry food mixed with salmon oil out for him to snack on 24 hours a day.

Substituted for Renal Support "T"

Our cat has Stage 2 kidney disease. He eats Hill's brand renal support wet food a little but not enough to keep him from losing weight. I asked our vet if another brand might be available that the cat might want to eat more of. The vet recommended Royal Canin renal support "T". The cat loved it. After feeding the cat most of a case of "T", I tried to get more "T", but in the current supply shortage world, everyone was out of stock (except an online price gouger who wanted quadruple the normal price). I decided to take a chance and get a case of Royal Canin renal support "D". I followed Royal Canin advice to introduce the new food slowly, mixing it with the remaining "T" food that I had. I was successful and now my cat loves eating Royal Canin renal support "D". His weight seems up, he seems happy and more active, and back to his pre-kidney disease normal. I still give him some Hill's brand first thing in the morning, but all Royal Canin brand "D" throughout the rest of the day.

Special kidney diet

My cat has always been a fussy eater and was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. Her vet recommended this brand and she loves it! I’m happy that it has become much easier to get her to eat.

Impressed!

Love Royal Cainin prescription Renal canned food. LuLu is very fussy about moist food and the fact that she eats and enjoys this, is very reassuring.
