Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

What is the carbohydrate in this food please? Thank you!
Answer by ChewyMar 26, 2021
This recipes contains dehydrated potatoes. For a complete list of ingredients, click on the 'Nutritional Info' tab, next to the 'Description' tab, just under the product photos.

Does this food contain the whole white fish (ie organ meat and bones) or is it muscle meat only? And am I correct in my understanding that it's not raw?
Answer by ChewyJan 13, 2021
The fish, within this recipe contains only meat. No organs or bones are used. Their recipes are made from dehydrated whole food ingredients, but they're not quite the same as raw. The meats, fish, and eggs are gently steamed at about 165F before being dehydrated to make sure they're safe and free of any pathogens, without the use of harmful irradiation. The steaming process means that these ingredients are not considered raw.

what is the sodium content? my dogs need cardio diets, hence low sodium.
Answer by ChewyFeb 20, 2021
This recipe has a sodium content of 0.194% on an as-fed basis (0.21% on a dry matter basis).

Is there anyway to tell the MAX fat content per serving? I saw the minimum fat content was 9%
Answer by ChewyJan 12, 2021
The recipes are formulated to target the minimum fat content that is provided in the Guaranteed Analysis, any deviation from this as-fed percentage would be minimal. The AAFCO allows for a 2% variance between the minimum and maximum fat content. This recipe contains 9% Fat, and it can potentially increase to 11%. Please speak with your veterinarian to ensure this value is low enough to be a suitable diet for your pet.

My dog loves it.

He's had the turkey and beef flavors before and he was like "hm, It's not bad". He LOVES this fish flavor so much that he licks the bowl because he's a *fish lover*. I'm glad that I bought a big box. Recommend this for dogs who love seafood and need more hydration. My dog is super cute.

3 out of 7 dogs love it

Please beware DO NOT feed your dog a lot of this food when starting out, it gave my dogs very upset stomachs. Follow the directions and feed in small increments and all will be fine. To me, this food is amazing. I am a foster so I have 7 small dogs and only 3 will eat it. But the 3 that will want to eat a lot of it!!!

powdered food

ok, its healthy but my dog wont touch it. when you mix it with water, it turns to cement . way too fine of a powder. If you just use it to sprinkle on your kibble, its fair. Id never buy this or recommend it.

REAL HOMEMADE FOOD

I can finally feel less guilty about feeding my dogs with an option that is not only affordable, but so much better for them than kibble. The fish one probably smells the worst out of all of the proteins, but their breath isn't even gross afterwards! Big Win!

Honest kitchen

My boys love this formula. I’ve used HK for years. I like being able to vary my boys diet while still feeding the best.

Licks The Spoon

It's different in that it needs to be rehydrated, so a little prep time is involved. My dog has food allergies/sensitivities and this whole grain fish & oat recipe works for him. And he LOVES it!

MY DOGS LOVE IT !!!

I am so excited to be feeding them the Honest kitchen. My small dog is very picky and he gobbled it up! it's easy to prepare and since they both have allergies with chicken... it's wonderful to be able to feed them the fish . I highly recommend it ..

good base food

I’ve been using this as the “base” for my dogs meal for almost two months now, and it’s worked out quite well. She’s very picky and likes variety, so typically I mix new canned foods, some plain chicken/beef, or even (just a little bit) of shredded cheese with this to keep her interested. She has stayed satisfied with this arrangement and has not refused to eat yet. She has also managed a healthy weight on this food.
