Introduce the new food gradually. This is the most successful way to ease your cat into the diet change. Start by mixing 25% new food with 75% current food. Slowly change the proportions over the next three days or so by gradually increasing the amount of new food and decreasing the amount of current food. At the end of this weaning process, you should be feeding 100% of the new food. You may encounter difficulties; for example, your cat might choose to eat only the old food, or not eat at all. However, a healthy cat can miss meals for a day or two with no ill effects.
The auto-ship service from Chewy is wonderful. My concern is with the product, Iams Perfect Portions Pate cat food. My cat has eaten this same food for about 6 years and never had any problems. However, in January she began vomiting once or twice a week. That slowly increased to a daily vomiting occurrence. Soon, a little blood started to show up in her vomit. Then she stopped eating the Iams cat food. She would not touch it. I had to buy another brand of wet cat food which she ate with no problems. The vomiting stopped. When I tried giving her the Iams again, she did not want it. That was very strange. Yesterday, I placed Iams in her bowl and left for the day hoping she would get hungry enough to eat it. When I arrived home, I walked into a horrific scene of 4 bloody vomits. Thank goodness my cat seems ok. I gave her the other wet cat food I had bought and she ate it with no problems. She has not vomited since. It is very apparent that is the Iams Pate cat food. I already reached out to Iams and sent them photos of the vomit and the packages of food. They told me they do not have any current recalls on the food. I wanted to leave this review in hopes of preventing this from happening to someone else's cat.
I have the worlds pickiest cat. She is a 10 year old Persian who up until I found this wet food would not touch a wet cat food. We gave her a sooon of tuna with her dry food everyday as an added treat. But I decided to take a chance and bought this and she tried for a minute to be a snooty and not eat it but then she dove in and has loved it every since!!! Thank you Iams for making something Miss Sassypants can tolerate and likes!!!!
I purchased this for my senior cat (16 yrs young) and she is obsessed over it to the point of her trying to wake me up at 5:30 am to eat instead of waiting until I get up at 9:00 am. Definitely worth it and I will keep purchasing it.
My cats all will eat this food, which is rare. However the packaging is a BEAR! It is hard to grasp, hard to pull and hard to avoid fingers plunging into food. The food tends to spill out on the counter as the top releases. I have used the grubber gripper that helps me open jars, then it got food on it so I had to wash it. I have even used pliers to grasp and pull with. Crazy hard!
I tried to save money and try Iams cat food. My cats love Nutro cat food. Ingredients similiar, but my cats refused to eat the Iams. Good product, but not for my cats.
My cat loves this but has diarrhea with even the smallest amount of any of the flavors. Tried the grain free and regular. Just so greasy. I tried dabbing the food with paper towels. I have about 50 or more that I ordered because I knew she would love them. Going to find a place to donate them.
Cats love the food and it's good quality for the price. However, the packaging is TERRIBLE. Instead of 1-2 recyclable metal cans like usual, there are 4 individual plastic trays that are I believe #7 which aren't even recyclable in most areas. On top of that, am these little treats in the 12-pack sits inside an additional clear plastic tray at the bottom of the box. Each individual plastic tray has a foil lid, which is not only kind of tricky to pull off but impossible to get off without getting cat food on your fingers somehow.
I have to keep a huge variety of wet foods/squeezable treats in the house for my almost 19 year old kitty, Cali. She tends to be picky, and changes what she likes ALL the time. She really loves these and doesn’t seem to get tired of them! They are very soft, have plenty of moisture content and are the perfect size for her.
My cats do not like it, but the feral cats love the chicken, but not the tuna. It's a strange pairing: chicken and tuna.
My cat is getting finicky in her old age, I tried this product, and she enjoys it. Such a worry trying to get her to eat. I still keep a case of her old food on hand, and now have something else to offer her that she really enjoys.
