1 ANIMAL PROTEIN
The ingredient list is purposefully simple for pets with food sensitivities. It focuses on one animal protein and one vegetable—versus the mix of each you'll find in most pet foods.

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL
Sometimes what's not included is just as important as what is. These recipes are made with grass-fed meat or cage-free poultry and always made without grain, dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy or artificial ingredients.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece
They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw—raising the bar in nutrition and taste.
The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does
Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand
LEAD WITH RAW
It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.
KEEP IT REAL
Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.
MAKE IT SIMPLE
Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.
DO IT TOGETHER
Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with local shelters and volunteer efforts nationwide we’re on a mission to transform the lives of all pets.
MAKE IT BETTER
Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

About Instinct
Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

My dogs love it
By Twainiac on Feb 23, 2021
Other reviewers complain about the juicy nature of this stuff, but I actually like that quality: I use canned food as a mix-in to throw some curvy excitement into an unbending stream of dry kibble. Even straight out of the fridge (because one can gets used over several meals), this food mixes nicely and smothers the boring right out of dry stuff. The upshot? I use less and to greater effect. My dogs seem to like it, too. Neither one is food-averse in any way -- if either turns their nose up at a meal, I'll know with certainty that heck is experiencing a snow storm -- but they have become next-level excited with the arrival of this stuff: more bowl licking; more checking and re-checking of empty Other reviewers complain about the juicy nature of this stuff, but I actually like that quality: I use canned food as a mix-in to throw some curvy excitement into an unbending stream of dry kibble. It's probably not coincidental. … more

Puppy didn't care for it
By lori on Sep 14, 2020
She eats a limited ingredient dry food but isn't crazy about it so I was hoping this would encourage her to eat it but she turned her nose up at it. I have since found another brand that she does like.

This wet food is far too expensive!
By NellyNero on Oct 8, 2020
Turkey is NOT exotic! Why is this canned food so expensive? Chewy is a great business and does not set prices. This utter rip off is on Instinct.

Only time my dog has ever turned his back on food!
By Beebs on Aug 15, 2020
He won't touch this nasty stuff. I don't blame him. All of it went to the dump.

a decent LID selection for food-sensitive dogs ...
By oh4chew on Jan 26, 2020
We've been using the dry variety with success, so for our senior pup we attempted the canned form as an alternative to her current selection. She has had no major upset thus far but we're only in experimental stages. This definitely smells better than her other canned food (which is also a premium choice) but the consistency is lacking. The water content is visibly higher and separated from the remaining ingredients, whereas the former food is a well-incorporated paté. She does like the taste though, so our experimentation with it continues and has been well worth the try.

Neither Dog would eat this food
By 1970MaleSteve on Mar 15, 2020
No, I do not recommend this item. Neither of my two beagle-hound dogs would eat this food unless I mixed their treats in with it. I will not buy this product again.

It’s a winner!
By PoodleLover on Sep 17, 2019
My 13 yo toy poodle just decided she wasn’t going to eat anymore. I of course wanted quality food and spent a small fortune trying to find something and this was the winner. There’s no sleeping in anymore, she lets me know when it’s 6 am and 5 pm as she is whining and shaking with excitement until she gets fed!

Very watery
By Amandavega on Sep 19, 2019
I open the can and there was so much water in it! I started shaking up the cans before dishing it out for the puppies. The smell is nice, liked canned chicken, and there were whole peas in it. That was nice.
