One of the few options for my Westies with digestive issues. Consistency of food has been varied and recent shipment noted several cans with broken seals. For the price, would expect better product. Will cancel my auto order.
I bought this because like a lot of people, can't get Royal Canine Select Protein Rabbit and Potato canned food. Reviews said it was a good substitute. I asked my dog's vet and she said she can't approve it because it's grain free and can cause heart problems. So now I have food I can't use. I'm very disappointed.
So my 12 yr old Beagle is allergic to chicken. She became a picky eater later in life, so I used this as a topper with her kibble. I am still skeptical about the benefits of raw diets but I do like that Instinct doesn't add more preservatives or junk to the food and tries to keep it as simple as possible. Being scared of diseases caused by eating raw meats and to make it easier to store, I just cook it a bit to kill any bacteria. Dog loves it. It is the closet to real meat I can get and cooking it makes it safe for her to consume without me worrying about bacterias. It is also easier to store on a air tight container in the fridge, lasts about 1 week. I just heat it for 15 second on the microwave and top her kibble.
My 8 yr old chichihua diagnosed with liver issue had been having digestive problems. Belly rumbles mucusy stools lack of energy and sporadically not eating.. nutritionist changed her diet to only the following. Proteins : eggs, cod, and your rabbit only instinct. Veggies: broccoli, beets, spinach, (chard and kale too but she's not fond of) with a base of steamed brown rice. The rabbit is 20% of her meals. And she's doing amazing. With liver issue improved/resolved I have the option of moving back to kibble but have decided to keep her on the rabbit because of the wonderful transformation
I was looking for a substitute for the rx Royal Canin canned rabbit formula since it’s been unavailable. My dog suffers from chronic gastroenteritis and the rabbit protein has been successful in stopping it. My vet wasn’t helpful with any advice so I googled it and this was one of a couple of choices. My dog loves it and it doesn’t bother his stomach at all. It’s as pricey as all the special diet foods so I use it as a topper for the RC kibble.
My dog has IBD due to food allergies. He was on the wet PR veterinary diet which has been impossible to get for months now. I tried some other alternatives but he either didn't like them or couldn't tolerate them. I am very happy to have finally found this Instinct product. He loves it and his digestive issues have resolved. The food consistency is soft but not watery as noted in a few of the other reviews. Best of all there is no prescription required. It has been a life saver for us!
My dog is on a novel protein diet and I have been having trouble getting his prescription diet due to the manufacturer being out of stock or stopping production. This food has been a great alternative and my dog loves it! The consistency is a little on the watery side but mixes great with kibble.
Sorry to say my cat didn't like this food. The one she loves is out of stock & it's the rabbt topper food in bits.
I found my dog was allergic to foods that had feathers (chicken, duck, turkey). So I went rabbit limited ingredients, my dog went crazy over this food. She will not even try anything else. I love you Instinct!
During the first week my dog loved the rabbit dog food. He has slowly started turning his nose up to the dog food. However I mix it with his dry rabid dog food and he seems to enjoy it. Also, my dog is allergic to most everything except for rabbit. So limited ingredient has been what we needed to add to his dry dog food.
