How much food does this make? Can you pick a dog weight and tell me how many days of food this would make for that size dog? How do you keep this from going bad in a few days? Thank you!

Answer by ChewyMay 25, 2022
This nutrient blend will yield approximately 11.5 pounds of food for a full batch. It can yield three full batches or six half batches. It will until the expiration date printed on the container. It will remain fresh as long as they haven't been exposed to any extreme high temperatures. For complete feeding instructions, click on the 'Feeding Instructions' tab, just under the product photos.

How many tablespoons of powder are in the bag?

Answer by ChewyDec 13, 2022
There are approximately 9 tablespoons of nutrient blend in the 4.5 oz bag.

Can this be cooked on the stove top?

Answer by KarinthewindJul 06, 2024
I cook protein in my cast iron. While it cooks I use the Cuisenart to process fruit and vegetables. Add those to the stock pot with the liquid from my protein or a little water and cover stockpot. I chop protein with the processor and add it too the stockpot with JSFD and Omega 3 mixing well. Add rice and keep mixing until blended

Is this meal (nutrient blend + recipe) grain free?

Answer by ChewyJan 07, 2024
The recipe is gluten-free, grain-free, and incorporates lean ground beef, russet potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, beef liver, green peas, and apples.

First, my dogs love this stuff. It gets pricey with an 80-pound shepherd to buy the pre-made stuff. I calculated that I saved about 60%. It is a bit time consuming, but I make big batches and then vacuum seal into smaller bags. My only complaint is in the description it says that all other ingredients can be found at your local grocery store. This is not true as the recipe calls for "Just food for dogs Omega (algae) oil" which you cannot source at your local grocery store. You have to scan the QR code to get the shopping list so you don't even know that until you go shopping. If they add that info in the description, it would 100% be a 5-star review from our house!

The ingredients do not state any fish ingredients otherwise I never would have purchased. Beware of the strong rotten fish smell, pass on this buy Purina probiotic powder packets instead.

Great recipe

My Gracie loved this!! I have been buying this brand frozen for her and she loves it, have tried many others as well. She loves them all but I was trying to find

My Gracie loved this!! I have been buying this brand frozen for her and she loves it, have tried many others as well. She loves them all but I was trying to find a more economical option, so I decided to tey this beef recipe. It was pretty easy. I used the crock pot version, I skipped only the beef liver. The recipe did. It state to drain the excess grease, wasn’t much but next round I will. Used the leftover containers from my past purchases of other ready made brands to store in the freezer. I also used my chopper to chop the potatoes and carrots much smaller and quicker than I could. Purchased the sunflower oil at the grocery store and bought the algae oil on chewy, the just for dogs brand.

Disappointed

I thought I was getting valuable nutrients for my dogs that is easy feeding. If I have to MAKE their food why would I buy this?

Convenient way to cook homemade for doggo.

Have been making this for several years for my Great Pyr who has a chicken allergy and is quite picky. We couldn't find a kibble or wet food brand that didn't give

Have been making this for several years for my Great Pyr who has a chicken allergy and is quite picky. We couldn't find a kibble or wet food brand that didn't give her tummy problems that she consistently liked. The frozen and pantry fresh JFFD products were too expensive for us (she would have needed 3 boxes of the pantry fresh a day) so I was happy to find the DIY blend. Their website makes the recipes available prior to purchase after a little digging if you need to investigate ingredients ahead of time. You will need an omega oil product as well. We buy JFFD's omega oil, but you could probably use any good quality omega oil. Pyr weighs about 85lbs. and the recipe with 2lbs. of beef makes enough food for two days. It takes us about an hour to cook a batch and we store in a large Tupperware container in the fridge. Her vet has said that whatever we're doing to keep doing it. She's 10 years old, but apparently her biological age is much younger. I give a lot of credit to feeding her high quality food.

How much they played together with toys

I based these ratings on how long it took Kodi and Rocky to tear the toys apart. I would like squeaker free toys
