  • Variety of birds are happy!

    By on

I have tried so many blends for my feathered friends only to have some type of problem. I even tried just putting out sunflower seeds in several different feeder types. While that worked OK, this new system seems to be a winner. I put out 2 mesh feeders with sunflower seeds (in shell), 2 finch socks with thistle that are adored by my goldies, one feeder filled with safflower seeds that my blue jays, cardinals and purple finches love, and this food in yet another hopper feeder. This food keeps the sparrows off my safflower and thistle and happy. That makes me happy because they can't really eat the safflower so they just kick it out on the ground which makes the pigeons come. Not a good thing. If I keep this food available for them, it works really well. My cardinals can have their choice of this food and enjoy a few sunflower seeds or their most loved safflower seeds. Some reviewers said this was a dusty seed and it is. Not so dusty that it is a problem though. I honestly can handle the dust more than the sparrows wasting the safflower. At any rate, this works great for my NE Ohio birds and I will certainly continue to purchase. … more

  • The birds love it! Wish the squirrels didn't!

    By on

As with every bird food product I've bought from Chewy, this mix draws a wide array of birds that come show their approval. Given my druthers, I'd get something with virtually no sunflower seeds--they're empty calories for the birds, and they draw lots of squirrels. But the birds are clearly very happy, and that's my first concern!

  • Cheap and works

    By on

I'm not the bird person but I love the colors and watching them fly around so I wanted bird food that attracted them but cheap. This product works and I recommend. Have seen cardinals, blue Jays, chickadees, and more.

  • Particles are too fine

    By on

Will not buy again. Too much dust and fine particles. Seeds were tiny. Continually clogged up bird feeder, because when it got wet from rain it hardened solid.

  • Too much waste...

    By on

I was surprised because it is Kaytee brand, which I thought was high quality. This seed is very "dusty" with a significant amount of particles so small they are literally like dust. When I scoop and spread the seed, almost half of it is this dust. It is so fine that it melts into the ground. I don't know how the birds can possibly pick up the dust and eat it, so I believe a lot of it is waste.
