I ordered these for relatives who feed in-shell peanuts when the warehouse stores all ran out of in-shell peanuts months ago. I figured unshelled would be a better deal than buying small bags of in-shell ones in the grocery stores. These Kaytee ones are fabulous. They are clean, unsalted and apparently roasted, looking at an answered question on this page by Chewy. Ten pounds of shelled nuts are far more nuts than 10 pounds of in-shell nuts. Yes, they are more expensive, but there aren't shells all over the yard! My relatives are now using both shelled and in-shell nuts, since the warehouse stores restocked, but I'm using only shelled ones for my feeder. Plus, I put some on the front and back patios. These nuts are absolutely adored by all sorts of birds--chickadees, woodpeckers, cardinals, Carolina wrens, brown thrashers, sparrows, blue jays, crows, etc.
Was buying Pennington peanuts but after 4 shipments of Kaytee I am amazed on how fresh these vacuum sealed bags are. You open the bag & it smells of fresh peanuts & the price is the cheapest I’ve found.
I thought I was ordering peanuts with a shell. There were no shells & my squirrels refused to eat them!
These were always fantastic but terrible the last few months. Too dark, too much ground up crud (like floor sweepings) and chunks of unidentifiable objects. I DO NOT buy these anymore. I hope the quality issues are corrected soon.
Fantastic! Birds of all types seem to really gather to my feeder these days. Very happy about that.
This is a great value, 10 pounds of shelled peanuts (unsalted), whereas you could pay $4 for just 24 ounces of in-shell peanuts at the grocery store. It did take our local bluejays a moment to re-calibrate to recognize the peanuts without the shells, but squirrels, bluejays, ground squirrels, etc. all love them!
Looked like a mixture of slightly roasted nuts, regular and burnt nuts. Poor uniformity thru-out. Hope the birds aren’t picky!
Attracted my favorite crows, our new bluejay community, and cardinals.
The Lyric fruit mix and these Kaytee peanuts go great to gether in our Nut feeder. A WIDE variety of birds love it.
These peanuts are burnt, and crumbled. The birds won't eat them. NO birds will eat these PEANUTS. A complete waste of money.
