For best results, hang a spray of millet by a clip or insert in a holder near a perch or in an easily accessible location. It is best to keep the millet off the bottom of the cage where it may become contaminated. Replace weekly or more frequently if desired. Do not allow your bird to eat only spray millet. The majority of its diet should consist of 1 of Kaytee's nutritionally fortified diets. Store in a cool, dry location.
I usually buy the Higgins brand of millet sprays and they are always large, fresh and the bag is totally sealed. I was disappointed that these Kaytee ones were none of those things. They still seemed ok, I didn't see any bugs or anything like that but I don't love the idea of them not coming in a sealed bag. It seems like a poor design for them to make a hole in the bag where it exposes the seeds to air and anything else that wants to find it's way in. They are also very small, short and skinny. My bird's millet holder works out better with the larger, fuller sprays so with these small ones it's hard for him to get at them. He still loved eating these though, so he doesn't seem too bothered.

I have ordered this before without issue but unfortunately this newest batch received was so dried out that it was already half bare when it arrived & lost nearly half of what was left when I was taking it out of the container to hang it for my birds. On the plus side my Birds didn't really seem to mind except for the fact that they ran out of millet too soon. I hope this was just a fluke & that any future orders will be the quality I had previously enjoyed from Chewy & Kaytee. It did arrive quickly & the price was decent if the product had been of the usual quality.
A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT FRESHNESS
on Feb 9, 2020
I have been getting Millet Spays for years at different stores and I know how fresh millet looks. When I received this particular bag of millet I hesitated giving it to my birds. It appears to be darker and doesn’t look like past purchases.
I’m afraid it might make my birds sick.
Wish this wasn’t the case because my birds are missing out on there treat.

They all got a millet branch today and have been busy wolfing it down. They all LOVE millet and this is an easy way to give them a treat since they seem to shun the things I think they should like (grapes, berries, bagels).

We bought these for our hamster and she loves them! They encourage natural foraging behaviors, and are 100% safe. They are her favorite sprays!
Hamster Loves Them!
on Dec 15, 2019
I give my Syrian hamster a mixture of millet, oat spray, and hays and millet is his all time favourite snack item. I sprinkle them around his Prevue 528 cage and watch him go crazy searching and foraging for them.
And for $3 for 12, that's a great price & lasts him about a month
Chicks dig em!

Since the weather turned colder, my hens don't have many natural options for snacks. I saw these & thought I'd try them out. The girls were skeptical at first (as such with all new things). Once they decided they were safe, they gobbled them up! It makes me happy to see my girls happy.
Great for hamsters!

Our foster hamster absolutely loves picking away at these - I like sticking a piece of this in the ground of her habitat so it's like a little tree growing for her to eat :)
Millets birds loves

My finch and parakeets just love these treats! They get very excited when I put millet in their cages.

I've been giving this to my birds for many years and now I have a lovebird, a parrotlet and 4 parakeets. All of them love it and get all excited when I give it to them after their weekly cleaning. It's like crack for the birds.
