We can't believe it, but it looks like the screws are welded at the head and potentially made of soft-metal like lead. The screws snapped and are now stuck in our window sill. What a horrible way to cut costs as a manufactured product. Screws aren't even expensive but the manufacturer sends these?? Now we have to sand down the screws, the window sill, repaint, and try using ADHESIVES to stick this to our window? No thank you. AVOID THIS PRODUCT.
I ended up buying two, for the sale price it’s great. The Velcro attachment has worked well so far. I cleaned the windowsill very well first, lined up the Velcro pieces and marked the positions, applied them and then waited 24hr before putting up the shelf; I don’t think I could have stopped her from using it otherwise! The bolster allows her to enjoy the window without getting a winter draft. My window sills are stone so the screws are not an option. I am hoping I can find a replacement for the adhesive strips if it eventually wears out.
Would have given 5 stars, my Princess loves it, however, the clear round seals on one side of the box were broken and items came out when I took box out of the package, made me think it was a returned item, wasn't happy about that.
I have used K&H products for my own personal pets, as well as for client’s pets in grooming, boarding, etc. Our family and friends love both their dog and cat products but honestly? This does NOT meet their normal standards. The hook and loop (off brand Velcro) does not hold at all. We followed instructions exactly. The adhesive is fine. The Velcro undoes itself as soon as our rescue kitty jumps on it. She’s still in an isolation room. She hisses at us now. I guess she associates falling off the windowsill mount with us, since we had been standing right there with her. Hopefully we can get a refund. K&H usually makes much better quality products than this. We are very disappointed.
This does not work on my windowsill. I followed the instructions and nothing I did made the shelf safe. I cannot use screws which were said to be optional anyway, since I live in an apartment. It looks comfortable. I wish I could have made it sit as described.
This is a very cute and comfortable place for my smaller cat. She sits in it every morning. But her big brother just fits. He has tried twice but its a little too small for him
I was impressed with pic and it was on sale so ordered it. Cheap plastic! Cant believe you charge over $70 for this. small thin piece of foam with a thin cover over it. If I hadnt thrown other one away, would be returning it. Cant wait for a cold night, weight of cat on this and it cracks in pieces. Dont waste your money...
So far it’s been holding up pretty good. I wish it had a clamping mechanism because I think it would make it more sturdy without creating a hole that needs to be fixed in my apartment. My cats hang out on it everyday so I’d say it was worth it overall.
Like others have mentioned it is poor quality. The adhesive is extremely precarious and complicated to put in place the first time and won't last especially with the weight of one normal cat and being in a window with sunlight hitting it. Unless you want to drill into your window sill it won't last. It took my cat a while to warm up to it and he finally did and it fell off while he was in it. The cover is also very difficult to get back on.
I've had this for several months and my 9lb cat loves it, but his weight broke several of the supports on the underside so now the bed sags. Additionally the adhesive, while it works still, is pretty precarious and if it gets too warm it'll come off. It's already fallen twice.
