We have 3 Newfoundlands and they LOVE this KONG Safestix. They will all play with it then one of them will chew it then all three will play with it then one will chew it. You can hear it squeak when they chew it. They all tug on it at the same time. They chew on it allot and no damage yet. We also have the medium Safestix.
This toy is sturdy. We bought the first one to play with outside because we live on a hill and balls roll down the yard and into the street. Our dog loves taking it on hikes. Unfortunately she dropped it in a creek and it floated downstream. I immediately ordered another I wanted green and got red shipped instead. And probably FedEx issue, but I kept getting emails saying my order was being delivered the next day. It took 6 days.
Tough toy for our little destroyer. So far, she has chewed and the toy has not flaked off. Great throw and tug toy. She seems to enjoy the texture.
Get this if you have a German Shepherd. Or any dog that likes to tug and has lots of energy. It’s so worth it!
Our Frenchie puppy and our two Senior English Bulldogs all like this one and it is holding up great.
Holding up great. Perfect for my German Shepherd & Goldendoodle to tug-of-war
Our 16-month old lab puppy loves his “big stick”! The rubber stands up to his tough chewing, and he chews on it frequently. We play tug with this, and he enjoys running around while carrying it. We are on our second Safestix. He eventually chewed the end knob off the puppy version, but that took months. This new one is several inches longer than the puppy version, but we don’t mind. It gives Wilson more to love!
This "durable plastic" toy lasted less than 15 minutes before my Husky pup (15 months 52lbs) had plastic pieces bit off. What happened to Kong in the few years between my dogs? Used to be well made and reliable toys, now almost every toy, save for non-tennis balls lacks any quality.
To be fair this did last more than most and while he has chewed off pieces and also chewed in in half, it’s a toy I mostly trust for him not to swallow any piece that would hurt him. Of course I still kept a close eye on it. Great toy, and it floats, but for super strong chewers you may be best served with a different option. My boy is an 80 pound American bulldog puppy so his chomps are very strong!
Lasted one day for my 1 year old golden doodle A Christmas gift from my sister.
