Does this fill from the top where the handle is or from the bottom that snaps into the base?

This does fill from the top, just make sure you put the little black cap on the water exit while filling. After you fill the container, make sure the lid is tight before you remove the little black cap.

Does that little cap allow airflow?

The cap on this fount creates an air flow and a vacuum.

Can this be used on a water heater base during the winter? And also, when the jug snaps into the base, will it snap back off for cleaning?

It is not recommended using a plastic waterer with a heater base. The jug can be removed to be cleaned.

So easy

I can fill it up and not worry for days. I just swoop out the dish portion of debris every other day. I have 13 chickens and it lasted a week in 70-80 degree weather

The girls like it and don't roost on it or knock it over or soil the water. It is easy to clean. Easy to fill easy to maintain. The seal can get a vapor lock but

The seal can get a vapor lock but it is easily remidied by loosening the little black cap and releasing the lock it does allow some rest to escape but as soon as you release the top then reseal the lower cap.

It's very hard to hang so it doesn't just tip and pour water everywhere. So that pretty much means you have to keep it outside the coop. If you don't hang it, it

It's very hard to hang so it doesn't just tip and pour water everywhere. So that pretty much means you have to keep it outside the coop. If you don't hang it, it becomes absolutely disgusting which defeats the purpose of a waterer that holds this much. I have to dump it out daily. Also the having to seal one hole to open the lid to fill the container and then reopen the spout hole is just so much more effort that it should be. There are just much better waterers for the same cost or less. Don't waste your money or time on this one.

Water pouring out

Had this since Jan. Only started using it when the weather got nice since I use a heated bowl in the winter. Recently the water has been pouring out, the black gasket

Had this since Jan. Only started using it when the weather got nice since I use a heated bowl in the winter. Recently the water has been pouring out, the black gasket piece is there I always make sure it’s there and sitting correctly and for whatever reason it still pouring out. I need a replacement ASAP especially in the heat. I’m now having to keep the black screw on and constantly checking to make sure they have water.

I got this thing to hold more water for my chickens, thinking it was going to make my life easier. The first time I went to refill it I dragged my hose all the way to my chicken coop and undid the top. As soon as I did that water started rushing everywhere and filled my chicken coop. The suction on it doesn’t work properly and very disappointed especially for the price I paid. I just wanted something I could simply refill not something that would fill my coop with water.
