About This Item

Details

  • This feed is crafted from 100% alfalfa and contains no preservatives or binders.
  • The pellets are blended with the entire plant, including stems, ensuring your horse gets all its natural benefits.
  • The pellets are softer than cube-style feed, and they can be easily soaked for horses that need an extra-soft texture, including seniors with dental challenges.
  • The pellets store neatly and take up a fraction of the space of hay—plus, there’s no need to break apart hay bales or deal with the waste.
  • For best freshness and performance, store pellets in a dry, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight and rotate your stock every 3 months.

Smells great - pellets too big

Looks like a fresh product, and I love Medalist's mini pellets. If you're hoping to soak these though, beware!, they take almost as long to break down as hay cubes

Alfalfa pellets

These are huge pellets, like for a moose. I have yo soak them overnight to feed to my horse. Everyday twice a day, such a bummer

Purchased this back in July, was trying to find a nice, softer alflafa pellet for my older guys as I tried soaking my other brand and the horses refused to eat them. Within weeks they were showing signs of mold. I kept them in a metal feed can, and we had some warm weather but I have never had this happen with any of my feed before. Anyways, I suggest sticking with standlee pellets, just wish they were softer. These were softer for my guys, but I had to toss out 70 % of the bag.

Chewy provided great customer service with this product and quickly sent a replacement bag for the 1st one being covered in moldy pellets. Then upon receiving the 2nd bag, I noticed it was very damp inside. Gave it chance and put it in a sealed container, I later found the entire bag molded over as well. I have ordered these Medalist pellets in the past with no issue, but now it seems the current production has too much moisture in it.

This food was fresh , smelt good, looked good , pellets was a little bigger than I expected ( about an inch long and as thick as 10 cent) I would definitely not feed these to my horse dry. I did offer a few dry so my horse could try them as a treat but we soak ours . I just feel more comfortable soaking them. My horse loves these pellets

This was not what I was expecting. The pellets are very large and take a long time to soak to breakdown which is a risk for fermentation in summer months. I would not recommend for horses. Also there were several pellets of ground corn mixed in so I had to pay attention and pull those out.

Moldy

I received two bags of this feed. Both were extremely moldy. Chewy was great and gave a refund. But, very disappointed in medalist.

Great

I am happy I tried these pellets. My horse gets the Shire's Treat ball for when he is stuck in his stall or if the weather is cold to help keep his movement up

I am happy I tried these pellets. My horse gets the Shire's Treat ball for when he is stuck in his stall or if the weather is cold to help keep his movement up. And standard sized hay pellets do not work that well since they fall out. Look no further these pellets are large and fit the ball better. I do not soak them at all for his ball and have no issue with them causing choke. I have soaked them and they do break down quick and nicely. Super happy with my purchase of these. My horse ate them up no issue with taste, I'd assume.
