can cat use litter box with this on? What is the material? My cat scratches herself will this hold up to scratching?

Answer by ChewyJan 19, 2021
The cat pants have a larger tail opening so they can use the litter box without removal or opening of the suit (not for use with incontinence). You can always use a dog suit for a cat, which requires a smaller tail opening. Medipaw two-piece medical suits are machine washable and made of 95% cotton and 5% Lycra. It is designed to keep your pet from licking and scratching at their wounds or bandages so they can recover as fast as possible. Pet owners can decide if the Medipaw Protective Suit is suitable for their pet. Fortunately most animals accept it.

will this cover the surgical area for a male cat after neutering? a lot of suits don't go down far enough.

Answer by ChewyApr 04, 2021
The suit is designed to provide full protection. When pets need to “do their business,” owners can easily take the pants off, roll the shirt up the torso and put back on securely with the Velcro® when finished.

Will just the back section stay in place on its own?

Answer by ChewyDec 05, 2021
While the shirt can function by itself, the pants cannot be used alone. If your pet needs to wear the pants, they will need to secure it with the shirt for it to stay in place. Both pieces easily velcro together to secure it.

Does the suit cover the rear legs? From the description and photo it led me to believe it did.

Answer by ChewyJun 08, 2021
This cat suit does not cover the pets legs.

You might notice that the item description says it contains two pieces. Those two pieces are a 'shirt' covering the upper body, and 'pants' for the lower body, which are supposed to attach to each other via velcro. However, you might also notice many reviews noting the absence of leg cover - because the pants were not actually included. The shirt stops just before the hind legs, so if the wound/incision is in that area or lower, it's easily exposed if the shirt rides up or the cat maneuvers enough. Of course, the lack of pants does indeed leave the hind quarters exposed to do their business, that is true. Overall, this comes off as less of a cat-designed suit, and more a dog suit with half missing to accommodate a cat.

Size guide uses the same images for all sizes with only a color difference. Two pieces seems far more difficult to put on the kitten, than was the one piece we replaced it with and it covers her entire belly/spay area completely with freedom to use her litter box, eat and drink. She disliked the cone and was actually injuring herself with it causing irritation and infection. It’s all but gone now and she goes back for her recheck in two days. Chewy gratuitously refunded the cost and we will drop it off at the local shelter.

Awful

Extremely small. The small would barely fit a newborn kitten.

I'm not sure how to get this item on our huge cat. Luckily this wasn't needed in his recent snips of his Lucky Charms at the Vet.
