Medipaw Rugged Dog & Cat Protective Boot, Small

Great product for our needs, but runs a little large. We got the rugged XL because of our dogs paw size, as measured from the provided chart; his front leg needed a good, heavy duty, waterproof cover for his leg, he has a splinted soft cast around his front leg and foot and it can’t get wet. The waterproof part is wonderful and works quite well. However, the paw pad is much too large and the sleeve goes way past his shoulder. This is a very large Great Dane. It secures great with 3 hook & loop straps along the sleeve. But, the elastic cinch at the top is not very good. It broke after the second time we cinched it, not too tight either, as we didn’t want to cut off circulation. The cinch was really too small and flimsy to worry about that anyway. I had to rig a slip knot to keep the top from falling down, so not too pleased there. The pad on the bottom is very durable, thick, treaded rubber, but the pad upper is a thin pleather material and because his paw has way to much room inside, it has started to crack open in a few spots. He’s been using it just over 2 weeks, for about 10-20 minute outside breaks. I would expect something advertised as the rugged version to be a bit more robust, especially in the larger sizes. I am overall satisfied with the protective boot, but a little disappointed that it won’t be reusable after this round, and may need some additional repair/patching to make it last the duration of him being in the cast. Our dog only wears it for going outside to do his business, so it’s not being put to any extreme usage. I do recommend this for what we’re using it for, but don’t let the “rugged” in the name fool you. It is a quality made product, but for its price point, I expected a lot more.

Our dog had a wound on her left hind paw that involved extensive wrapping and multiple wound checks. This item provided for protection when we took her outside without being tight on her bandage. The Velcro straps allowed for proper fitting. The rubber grip for her paw was incredibly helpful when conditions were icy and provided stability for ambulation. I would highly recommend it. Allow for bandage width when sizing.

This was exactly what I was looking for, waterproof protection for my dog’s cast and a grippy boot bottom to help her walk. Absolutely worth the price, exactly what we needed! The measurements were exactly as described online too, easy to get the correct size. (Went up half inch from paw measurement to fit around a cast!)
