IF YOUR FUR-BABY IS INJURED/RECOVERING, THIS IS A MUST!!
[Sorry for the backstory!] Our Blue Heeler (7 years/63lbs) and German Shepard had some sort of collision on their never-ending squirrel expedition. Took him to the vet asap and sure enough, his paw is broken in a few places. They stinted his whole arm and wrapped it a few times, and of course we were instructed to keep it dry, keep him from biting on it, no activity, all things that dogs do!! I immediately started looking for something that would aid our situation and give me a little peace of mind. I found this immediately and it is perfect. This thing is unbelievable, and it’s built like a shoe with a sole so I’m not even really nervous about him walking around. Honestly, he’s back to catching “fly snacks” so he’s got to be feeling better, right?! I even spoke to Chewy before I purchased it because I was hesitant about which size (because of the cast he has on) but they were AMAZING. Told me that if I needed a different size, then they’d take care of it if needed. We ordered a Medium, the red one, and it’s just perfect. Please get this!! Thank you, Chewy!
Small size perfect for a corgi
I ordered the Small size and it was perfect to fit over my corgi's whole front leg. He is unfortunately in a full leg splint for 6-8 weeks due to a fractured toe, and this boot covers the entire bandage. It's easy to get on and off, stays on when in use, and seems durable and waterproof as advertised (had it 2 weeks now). This will serve him well for the duration of his recovery!
Boot helps recovery from toe surgery for cancer
My dog was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and has had two surgeries to remove tissue on his rear foot on his second inside toe. The first surgery we had the boot made from a fluid bag that worked okay but was slippery on ice and snow and hard to get on. I purchased this in medium and it has given him support and traction and kept him dry when it was snowing and thawing. My dog is a terrier Brussels griffon mix and weighs 30 lbs. The medium fit perfectly with the bandage. I premeasured his foot without the bandage and his foot was 2 1/2 inches and leg length wise about 8 inches. The boot was too big without bandages but fit perfectly with the bandage on. The Velcro is a life saver for getting it on quickly and removing it with out tugging on his suture site or pulling the bandage off. It's well made and has helped a lot.
Perfect for foot surgery
Our vet recommended this. The Medium fit our 86lb. Lab after foot surgery. It worked great in the snow. The fit was good with the bandage on. When the foot still needed protection after the stitches were removed it just fell off so we had to rig something else up. Definitely would recommend.
Great Splint Cover!
My 2 1/2 year old Samoyed recently underwent pancarpal arthrodesis surgery. He is 70 pounds and I purchased the medium size Medipaw. Probably could have gone with the large but this is a nice, snug fit for him. This works so much better and is much quicker to put on than the plastic grocery bags we were using. Thanks to the rubber bottom, he's even beginning to touch his toe to the ground now. The velcro straps are just barely long enough, but that's because there is a big metal tube brace underneath the bandage. The one thing I would change would be to have an elastic band with the toggle at the top instead of just a plain cord. It's a little pricey, but the protection provided by the rubber base and the fact that it's so easy to slip on and off make it worthwhile for me.
Awesome! Definite Help!!!
My standard poodle (Bear) had to have his toe amputated due to cancer. This boot was a lifesaver! THIS IS NOT MEANT FOR A TYPICAL SNOW/RAIN BOOT!! He is a big boy, I bought the medium, this is meant to fit over bandaging and even a cast. Even the medium was still a little big as he only had it bandaged, no cast, It is adjustable and stays in place even when his crazy butt tries running through the mud! MUST HAVE to keep foot dry and clean for healing!!
Lifesaver but could be better
Overall, this was a necessity. It's been nearly impossible to keep my dog's splint dry and clean during a very snowy winter. Truly nothing else worked and this was so much easier. However, this product could be better. First, I wish there were more sizes since my dog is in-between a medium and large. I went with the medium, but that meant having to cover the top of his splint with a trash bag, which was a pain. Second, the elastic at the top broke after a week. The boot still worked, but not as well. I expected more durability for this price, but then again this is about the only product on the market I could find to cover splints.
Work Excellent
This is been a life saver for us. our dog has to be in a cast for 8 weeks and we live in the country and it has rained none stop so this a work out so well to keep it dry.
Lifesaver boot
My 13 month old healer broke his toe and will be about three weeks of healing with restrictive movement. I was already getting sick of the plastic bag and not to mention have lost some socks with him chewing them off in order to cover the bandages. Just got this today and already in love! I got the medium and just a tad big but he has adjusted quickly. This is a lifesaver especially with all the times he has to go potty! Thank you Chewy and Medipaw!!!
Works Great!
Would have rated a five except for a few flaws. We have a Golden Retriever with a condition where her nails easily crack or come off. This results in weeks of bandages. We were using a gallon size freezer bag with a sock and a hair tie. This is so much easier! Big enough so it slips right over her bandaged leg yet snug enough that it doesn’t flop around. My only two issues are 1. Sizing - originally got the large which is WAY too big and now I paid for one I will never use. Note that the medium is the perfect size for a bandaged golden retriever leg. 2. The velcro straps should have one more stitched area so you know which way to wrap them and maybe something like a belt loop you run them through so they don’t ride up or down. Other than that we are very happy and so is our girl! A lot easier to put on and take off which means we aren’t pushing on her injury.
