I'm not sure whatvsize to get for my dog and the sizing chart gives no indication of where to measure (sole circumference is what? ) My 58lb pittie had surgery on his paw and needs one for the final part of the healing process. What measurements would give me the best sizing?

Answer by ChewyJan 23, 2021
To get the sole measurement for this boot, first place your pup's paw on a piece of paper on a firm surface. Next, lift their opposite paw, so that weight is placed onto the paw being measured. Then, mark both sides of weighted paw at its widest point. Finally, measure the distance and match that measurement with the sizing chart (if you are between sizes, choose the smaller size).

Is there thick cushioning or padding on the bottom?

Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2021
The healing slim boot is lined from top to bottom with a soft bamboo and silver antimicrobial fabric. The bottom of the boot has an anti-skid rubber sole. There is not an extra cushion in the bottom of the boot. Please see an enlarged photo of the bottom of this boot below:

Do these work for hind legs?

Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
This boot works for front and hind legs.

Can this be used over a lick granuloma all day? Is it breathable? Usually these wounds are best not bandaged, but I need something to keep him from licking. I use the MediPaw unlined boot for outside which works, but it is not really breathable to leave on for long periods.

Answer by ChewyFeb 02, 2021
This healing boot can be used over lick granulomas to avoid any licking, scratching, and biting. It has a breathable fabric lined with antimicrobial bamboo. This should be used as directed by your vet, and it is recommended to monitor the wound at least 2-3 times per day (more often in warmer climates) for signs of infection.

Was measured accurately and sock fit well lengthwise but my dog was able to get it off four times in less than an hour. On his fourth removal he snapped the cord inserted inside the thin fabric lining intended to secure it above the elbow and walked right out of it even with the Velcro straps fastened. Piece of garbage and waste of money. I reached out to the manufacturer. They only give refunds if the sock was purchased directly from their site.

We had a similar boot (the option without the lining) and decided to order this one with the soft lined interior as a second bootie. The design of this boot does not work. The soft material gets bunched up and then the entire boot rolls down. We put it on just like the other boot but again, the lining causes it to not work properly and within just a few steps it was all awkward and falling off. I would not recommend this one and regret that I didn't return it. Purchase the one without the lining instead.

Great concept, well made I think, but sizing is way off

Bought for our Vizsla post surgery for a torn pad. I bought the size the vet recommended (medium) and it is ridiculously big. The "paw" portion of the boot is about 3x the size of her actual paw. And the "leg" portion of the boot is much too wide. I've wrapped the velcro straps as tight as I can and cinched the top elastic as far as it will go, and it still slides off in about 5 steps. I guess it might work in the instance where there was a big bandage on the dog's foot or up their leg, but right now it's pretty useless for our immediate need. I have asked the vet if we should try a smaller size or if there is another product we can use. Objectively, it looks like a good sturdy product IF the fit were accurate.

Unreasonably expensive

My dog licked her toe excessively and I got this to keep it clean when we go outside. Yeah first time she did that in eight years! Measured her paw width at 2”

My dog licked her toe excessively and I got this to keep it clean when we go outside. Yeah first time she did that in eight years! Measured her paw width at 2”. Went with the 2 1/2” since the 2” wasn’t long enough to go over her hock to stay in place. Fit is ok. She is a 50lb Aussie. If you need it to go over a cast or bandage, go bigger.

The worst, don't waist your money!

Do not waist your money on this product, it will not stay on, no matter how you snow it up. Needs a shoulder holster design. Bad design!
