I adopted a sick little feral kitten a couple of months ago. He's getting stronger, healthier and making socialization progress every day. This is the first kitten I've had in my life in over 20 years. I forgot how much they eat! I did my research, compared ingredients and prices and Merrick made the top of the list. Final test was subject to kitty's approval, which was a success. I'm doing a wet/dry food mix which I hope everyone else does as well. A 100% dry food diet is not appropriate for cats and will ultimately lead to urinary tract infections and kidney disease.
I find that the smell can be a bit overpowering, and the kittens don't love eating this, and they usually aren't picky.
Merrick gets good reviews and seems to be high quality cat food; my new kitten approves and also gets wet cat in addition to this dry kibble.
My three kittens love this. We switched from another brand and this was a big hit. They all eat it without hesitation.
All my cats ignore this food. I have to blend it in with their other dry to get them to eat it. I really wanted my 5 mth old to love this. I have two other cats who were rescues and I wanted them to have the extra nutrition.
I bought this for my adult cat who has a very sensitive stomach. Unfortunately, he won't even try it. He will smell it and walk away every time. I wanted him to love this food because my dogs loved the Merrick brand and it was amazing for them. I tried, I left it in his bowl for a week and he wouldn't even touch it. I'll donate this to our local shelter and hopefully find something else he likes.
The ingredients look great and it scores high in the reviews but my kittens (6 & 8 mo) won't touch it, even if they're pretty hungry. Guess we're switching back to Science Diet.
I run a small Ragdoll cattery & when my kittens are old enough, I put them on Merrick perfect bistro grain free kitten, and they all do very well on this food.
I have 6 cats, 2 are kittens. I keep a self feeder of kibble available at all times. My cats can be ungodly picky. Its a given that at least 1 will snub any particular brand but I have found that if I mix several brands in the feeder that all cats will happily eat it. When I get a new food I always put out a separate bowl to see if they like it or if there is any digestive issues before adding it to the feeder. This kitten variety was scarfed up on the test run.
Why is the whole line of merrick kitten foods and the all life stages gamebird? We've looked online and even called the company multiple times to find out when stores and chewy will be restocked. Are they don't making the perfect bistro kitten, the gamebird formula, and other dry kitten formula? Highly concerned about this
