Does this work to break up struvite crystals in a small dog?

Answer by ChewyNov 01, 2022
This supplement is formulated to help break down and eliminate all types of stones, including liver, kidney, bladder and gall stones, gravel, crystals, grains and calculi and to help safely remove them from the animal body. The types of stones, gravel, crystals and grain that are managed gently yet effectively may include calcium oxalate, struvite, uric acid, cystine, calcium phosphate and silica stones.

Will this help with oxalate stones?

Answer by ChewyApr 02, 2022
This medicine can help eliminate all types of stones, gravel, crystals and grain which may include calcium oxalate, struvite, uric acid, cystine, calcium phosphate and silica stones.

Just started does this cause more urinating. Like the amount she actually gets out. Thanks

Answer by ChewySep 12, 2021
Break It Up! Is not a primary diuretic, however, it can increase urination when stones and crystals are helped to break down, as it is related to natural microbial-die off, or toxin elimination from the body. Every pet does not drink more water or need more bathroom breaks, but it can occur with use.

Do you give this product once daily or twice daily?

Our 7 yr old female German Shepherd had an obstructing bladder stone emergency. Upon sedation at the vets, she relaxed enough to pass the obstructing stone on her own, but there were many more remaining in her bladder. The vet's were not able to find the stone that passed, so we do not know the mineralogy, but she did have a UTI. The vet's immediately recommended surgery to remove the remaining stones, very expensive and risky because she had already had a spay surgery that was extremely difficult to heal from only a year ago. The vet was not supportive of trying this product, citing lack of published studies on effectiveness, and lack of regulation for OTC supplements. However, we decided to try this product at the full recommended dose alongside antibiotics for the UTI and gave it a month. With a recheck today, the UTI is gone, and xrays show the stones have all cleared the bladder - stone free!! So thankful for this product, it saved us from an expensive and dangerous surgery. Thank you Natura Petz and Chewy!

Our 14 year old Schnauser mix began having issues urinating back in late August/early September. When we took her to the vet, they discovered she had a bladder full of stones. The only option we were given was surgery but that was going to be thousands of dollars we didn't have. The vet said we could manage the symptoms but he didn't have any recommendations for doing so. After some research, we came across this product and it has beena life saver ever since! Our dog can urinate without any issues and we plan to keep using it to maintain her bladder health. 10/10 recommend

Oh my goodness! We have a handsome baby 15lb in weight and he had 2 small spiky looking stones in his urethra the vets couldn’t retropulse and we were told to give prescription diet and come back in 3 months. We did this for 2 weeks and our dog absolutely refused to eat it anymore so we came here, saw the reviews and bought it. I tell you we followed the instructions to a tee! We followed the dosing regimen and even gave probiotics at least 18 hrs in between on a daily basis and our baby never had C.diff or colitis diarrhea issues and in 3 months the stones were out( this happened after we saw some blood for about 3 days coming out of his penis which we were actively monitoring with the vets with X-rays and all). So I would suggest while you use this product save up for surgery just incase it doesn’t work for your little one like it did for ours but seriously it does work and I am super grateful to chewy for this product!

Our 4 year old Maltese has had 2 surgeries to remove bladder stones. We were told he can’t have anymore surgeries and would need to be put down because his body was making more stones. We tried this product and IT WORKED! He’s alive and well and has been thriving for 2 years! When we see signs of stones (dark urine, difficulty urinating, urine accidents in the house, etc) we Start Break It Up and it helps. So thankful for this product.

Kimberly my cavalier has been suffering from stones for the past 3 years . First time cost me about 5,000 for the emergency vet visit 1,000 then being sent to my regular vet it was cheaper going there trust me 3000 later they gave me Kim and bottle of her stones in a bottle . They prescribed urinary food Hills Urinary Diet and warned me she wasn’t in the clear than most dogs who develop stones are more likely to get them again . She was doing well until I started to notice more frequent peeing , smell to her urine , and finally blood in her urine . Loathe and behold 1,200 vet bill later Kim has stones again and it will be another 3,000 to 5,000 surgery. Now let me just say the money isn’t so much the issue Kim has great pet insurance Figo so I get most of it back . The problem is I don’t want her to undergo another surgery especially since she has a heart murmur . I started searching for something that could help her because I thought it cant be possible that only surgery is the solution BOOOMM found this wow wow wow wow she is so much better this is weird but every time she urines she releases stone after stone after stone even 10 at a time I kid you not . They told me she would never pass them with out surgery . This along with clavamox dog amoxicillin and her Hills urinary care diet has been a god send . I’m not saying to not take your dog to the vet yes or course I’m not a professional I’m just saying this can change you and your pups life like it has for me and Kim I’m going to take her back to the vet so we can run the same tests again because I want to see my vets face

Worked quickly

My dog started having issues urinating more frequently and I noticed blood. Urine test showed blood and debris and vet would only prescribe anti-inflammatory meds which didn't help. The cost for stones was going to be expensive and her appointment was a couple weeks out so I searched and found this. It worked and within days she was improving, feeling better, urinating less, and no visible blood. So thankful this option was available before a huge vet bill or surgery option.

How quickly i saw improvement

This does help, but you must follow the directions on the bottle and will have to use multiple times as the bottle suggests. But, it works!
