Questions & Answers

15 Customer Questions

I see this is made in the USA. Is it packaged here as well.
Answer by ChewyOct 25, 2021
This food is made in small batches in the USA with regionally sourced ingredients & humanely raised meat.

Ingredient list just says vitamins and minerals, it doesn't say what they are or how they are made. Chelated? Synthetic? Naturally occurring?
Answer by ChewyNov 16, 2021
Simply Raw is formulated to provide macro and micronutrients like vitamins and minerals from whole food sources. All of Nature's Diet formulas are third party lab tested to make sure dogs are getting the nutrients they need to thrive. The manufacturer supplements Simply Raw with a vitamin blend containing Selenium Yeast and Vitamin B6. Other nutrients are provided through their whole food ingredients.

How many dry cups are in a bag?
Answer by ChewyJan 16, 2022
Nature's Diet packages by weight not volume but Simply Raw has approximately 16 dry cups in a 3 pound bag. Each dry cup has 320 calories. The recommended servings on the back of the bag are based on an average dog with average activity. You can adjust over time based on your dog's specific calorie needs. Combine each dry cup with two cups of water. There are 48 total prepared cups (dry food and water) in a 3 pound bag.

My dog loves it!

I have an 11 year old pit bull terrier that has food sensitivities. I’ve tried every kind of protein except the super expensive ones. I’ve found that even if he does good on one food, he will after a few days have stomach issues with it. I feed him raw beef, then duck for a couple of days, then switch to this simply raw for a few days. Then switch back to raw. He loves this food and does well on it. It’s also much more cost effective than most other freeze dried foods. And it’s very convenient to travel with. I’ve tried another (very good) brand raw dehydrated beef and he has a lot of gas and stomach rumbling and the doesn’t want to eat. He does not have those issues with this food. Luckily my other dog doesn’t have issues with any food so nothing goes to waste.

Very Disappointed

While this might be a convenient way to feed raw, I am very disappointed in what I feel is misleading information. I cannot imagine a 3lb bag actually making 48 cups unless I were to feed my dogs SOUP. I combined two cups of the mix with two cups of warm water, stirred well, covered the bowl, and let it sit for an hour. The food attained a stew consistency. My dogs did eat the food eagerly, but they have always been easy keepers and will eat just about anything I give them. Will have to see how their guts react to this food. They have been raw fed for years but I was hoping for a less expensive alternative. Also, this food smells and looks very much like Tylee's.

Never again

This food is mostly powder. I assume the powder is bone broth or ground up bone. Therefore Nature's Diet has more ground up bone(and lots of peas and banana) than anything else meaning that's what I am paying for. No, thank you. The other freeze dried I tried lived up to it's name and then some. My fur baby lost weight on the first one i tried. (Making his vet happy,) Sadly he has gained back what he lost + more. Too bad the first one is cost prohibitive.

Healthier coat and less stinky farts!

My dog LOVES this wet food. I usually rehydrate a few days' worth of this food in a tupperware, then add a few scoops on top of her kibble. Now she won't eat her kibble without it! Even though she's spoiled, I don't mind since this food is making her coat shinier, her skin less flaky, and her FARTS LESS STINKY! And less frequent! All hail the healthy gut! For context, ShelbDog is a 4 year old shelter pit bull who lives an active lifestyle.

Wanted to like this one

I wanted so badly for this food to work out well for my new rescue dog! The ingredients are so wholesome, it’s convenient and more affordable than other raw foods, and it smells good. I am currently transitioning her to a more varied and wholesome diet after being fed low-quality foods at the shelter. Unfortunately, this food does not seem to agree with her, even with supplemental digestive enzymes added — it always gives her big, soft poops with undigested food particles, and she seems to have developed an aversion to it. She does very well with Primal brand frozen food, and I’ll be sticking with that for now.

Dog approved

My dog absolutely loves this food. I mix it with dry kibble as well because my dog needs almost 3K calories a day. I wish they sold bigger bulk bags. I have an XL dog, King Shepherd. He used to let his food sit for a while before and I was worried he wasn’t eating close to his caloric intake but now he scarfs this food down!

Excellent , good quality

This is a very good product, I wanted to find another food besides SOJOs, dehydrated food, and this a a great new addition to my feeding plans, I switched from real raw food, recently and I’m very it happy I did, my dogs really love it, had no issues whatsoever, it’s a lot more time friendly than the shopping and preparing a real raw diet, so I’m very satisfied

Very disappointed.

One of my two dogs refused to eat the stuff. The recommended quantities are much higher than for other food, so this food is even more expensive than I expected. I would not have minded if my dogs loved it, but they did not. I threw the bag out.

Dog refuses to eat this food

We have a Corgi mix that eats everything in sight. This is the first thing I have ever seen that the dog refuses to eat, Tried a few times with her kibble and she wouldn't touch the bowl. I ended up giving the bag to the neighbor for their dog, I told them if the dog won't eat it, to just throw it away. This has been a waste of money for me, and I will never buy freeze-dried food again, I'll stick with canned BB and kibble.

Dog won’t eat it

I was very excited to get raw freeze dried food, but my dog who is not picky at all will not even touch it. I tried several times I had to resort back to her blue Buffalo. I’m hoping I can try a different flavor and maybe she’ll like that.
